I understand that there are a variety of NWO theories out there, but they all boil down to basically the same thing. For example, blaming the freemasons is simply a proxy for blaming the Rothschilds, which is simply a proxy for blaming the Jews. Which one you choose seems to boil down to whether you are motivated by prejudice against a people or by fear of power wielded by some “other.”
I don’t really care how one embraces the NWO theory, the problem with it is that a one world collectivist government is a nonsensical proposition that is inherently inconsistent with the rest of the narrative.
Moreover, the NWO endgame is completely inconsistent with the magnitude and direction of change in the world today, which is distinctly neoliberal/neoconservative, aka neofeudal aka corporate feudalism. Under Hayek’s neoliberalism, all worlds lead to serfdom.
Personally, I don’t think we need to understand who is “behind” world events and what their motivations are because the road to hell is paved with good intentions. It should be enough to see where the magnitude and direction of change is taking the world, which is towards neofeudalism.
If you really want to identify a mastermind elite and understand their motivations, then you need look no farther than the architects of neoliberalism (Mises, Friedman, Rothbard and Hayek) who were extensively backed by corporate money, including the Koch family. Their ideas are the centerpiece of government policy the world over, and this has been true for 30 years. These men were anti-communism, anti-socialism, anti-collectivism to the bone. Communism/collectivism is not the end game. Unfortunately, you cannot understand their true motivations by reading what they wrote because it is marked by the triple double of propaganda: double truth; double speak; and double think. No, you have to compare neoliberal theory to neoliberal action, and therein you will see the driving force behind the current vector of social change.
The ironic thing is that one can easily see the similarities between the strategy for world domination set forth in the fictional and anti-semitic “Protocols” and the actual methods employed by the architects of neoliberalism (use promises of “liberty” to dupe people into voluntary slavery and giving up their national sovereignty; use gold to control the world economy).

Much of the rhetoric emanating from the right (e.g., the John Birch Society and AJ) about the NWO seems to be lifted from the Protocols of the Elders of Zion but sanitized of the anti-semitism.
The common narrative of the two stories is laughable because it ends in a communist one world government. Why would anyone amass so much power and wealth behind the scenes and then come out into the open when they already have the power to operate through proxies (e.g., Obama and Bernanke) who take the brunt of the blame when things go wrong? And why would you form a communist/collectivist government when you clearly have such disdain for the masses? The answer to both questions is that they wouldn’t. The narrative simply isn’t rational, which indicates that the current NWO narrative, like the Protocols’ narrative before it, is designed to appeal to certain biases rather than to reason.
For the NWO narrative to be plausible based on the way events are unfolding, the “NWO” would have to be a form of de facto corporate feudalism that works behind the scenes within the existing set of governments. Oh, wait, that’s what we already have with the exception of one world currency. That can easily be accomplished by re-establishing a worldwide gold standard, though. (It doesn’t matter if different countries have different currencies if they’re all valued based on a common standard.) But isn’t that what the anti-NWO crowd is advocating? And isn’t that what the Austrian “libertarians” are advocating, as well?
