The only viable way for the US and UK to stop this regression to the mean to unfold non-violently is to ‘monetize’ economic externalities such as carbon pollution in ways that incentivize capitalists to make money shrinking companies.

When companies shrink to the point where global GDP gaps are more in line with global population trends

But the UK has opted for the worst possible policy decision by rolling back carbon emission targets. This will cause capital to continue to roll into companies who are already bloated, making them even more attractive targets for Al Q…..’s ‘bankers.’

They are elitist,,,, not the Rothschilds, Soros or Goldsmith level but they belittled and ridiculed Americans for NOT leaving the US as they had done. How many people can up and leave, move to France and support themselves.

Bookmark all pieces of info, I have lost a few really good ones, but still collecting…

Found this nugget, It mimics the Soros strategy…. right down to hooking up with a Rothschilds connection.

Former stockbroker joins forces with billionaire’s son in ambitious attempt to ‘bring down Coca-Cola’ by devaluing drinks giant’s shares

An anti-capitalist former stockbroker and the son of Sir James Goldsmith have launched an audacious attempt to halve the value of Coca-Cola’s shares.

The radical activist Max Keiser has joined forces with the editor of the Ecologist magazine, Zak Goldsmith

Last night Mr Keiser said the hedge fund already had “several hundred thousand dollars” in it despite not yet being listed, and he was approaching several big banking figures, including George Soros , to increase the value.

  4. And might I add, the now likely result is going to be that the duo, after having declared their hand, if they are now exposed and recognised for the double agents and willful hypocrites that they most likely are, will be left twisting in the wind, not unlike the scamsters who buy in to deceive only to find that the dumb money refuses to follow. It will serve them right, I say.

  5. @ WL
Thanks for doing all that fantastic research. It is fantastic and satisfying to finally start understanding the likely reasons and motives behind the Marx-Stazi anomoly on AGW and Carbon Trading.

The Goldsmith connection does suggest that the duo are sucking up to the Soros – Rothschild financial empire, but may I suggest that the connection might be a tad more sinister and treacherous than a merely aspirational endeavour for membership in that criminal gang. How so?

Well, could it be, and indeed, wouldn’t it be a more compelling supposition that the entire phenomenon is a very deliberate power play to smooth the transitioning from the old scams, wich now clearly have only a limited shelf life left in them, to the new carbon scam on a grand, global scale?

Under this supposition, the apparent Marx-Stazi blocked- and split-brain, phenomenon of disjointedness in good judgement is in reality a very coherent strategy: Gain credibility by exposing the corruption of the old, dying system whose days are in any case numbered, and then use that kudos and credibility capital to sell and make acceptable the transition to the new, even worse scam, that once introduced and entranched, will never be shaken off by the people.

It seems to me that such a supposition is quite compelling, especially in light of your exchanges with Mark Lytle, anything but green, and others.

    David Rothschilds, what a clown

The Rothschilds had it much easier in the past when they exploited the masses.. people were more easily dupped…

we are on to you (Rothschilds and Goldsmiths and Soros and Maurice Strong)

Vice-Chairman of Rothschild: “Carbon trading must be globally regulated”

    http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=14294

Simon Linnett, Executive Vice-Chairman of Rothschild, has called for a new international body, the World Environment Agency, to regulate carbon trading.

In a recently published paper, Trading Emissions, for the Social Market Foundation, Mr Linnett argues that the International problem of climate change demands an international solution.

Unless governments cede some of their sovereignty to a new world body, he says, a global carbon trading scheme cannot be enforced and regulated.

“An urgent global response.” This was how Nicolas Stern described the problem of carbon dioxide emissions, in his recent review of the economics of climate change. The sense of an impending crisis infuses our all debates on this issue.

The Rothschild historic strategy to gain control, power and wealth. they are doing the same thing today with AGW and the demonization of C02.

  7. @ WL, Mark, Youri , Anything but, & All

You may and may not have heard this interview of David Rothschild by Alex Jones. For anyone trying to sort the wheat from the chaff, it is well worth a listen. As you listen to the episodes, one after another, it gets better and better.

For example, in episode 3, starting from the 4:40 mark, Rothschild is trapped by Jones, and he simply has no answer. So, what does he do? He is a smooth operator, and tries to fudge it. You have to listen to it to believe it. No educated person like Rothschild no doubt is could dare even try to get away with it, not if they had a shread of integrity. Anyhow, here is the link. Make sure to click through all 5 episodes to the end. It is well worth it.

I actually meant to write “Do your own research and learn this stuff on your own”

Having said that, the link I posted is excellent, it is fully referenced with links. Of course you should be critical of everything you read and use as close to original material as possible.

  10. @Tony

    @Nat

Answer: Because I understand what the term means. I think you need to give it some more thought.

Don’t be rude. I do know what it means, where it came from originally and how its use has been expanded and probably misused today.

Put norcalkid’s post in the negative and your post still makes sense but reverses your inferred view point – the ‘Useful Idiot’ switches sides.

  11. @WL Do your research…

    http://www.appinsys.com/GlobalWarming/

If I wanted to do more research I wouldn’t go to a one-man, one-stop, one-sided website would I? – Some old engineer who likes to preach religiously his views.

Read my post (I we must order each other about):

I personally think that the man made climate change is quite likely true but humans tend to make links between things that aren’t there.

The world is much more complicated than people consider which often renders lay people’s arguments on both sides of climate change irrelevant. Observing the terrible floods in Pakistan and saying it’s evidence of climate change is nonsense. I’m sure we won’t see such direct effects for a fair while yet.

Briefly looking at that site, the guy seems to rebuke each paper with simplistic, single tack ideas. The world as a system is wholly complicated and can’t made this simple – this goes for arguments on both sides. He comes across as being used to challenging such ideas but ultimately with no depth of understanding that gives him any authority.

As I also said on another post, I think climate change is quite possibly true but is certainly jumped upon by people with vested interests (Media for example, conspiracy theorists as another) be it ego, financial or power/fear related and jumped on by both sides.

  12. How about raising the requirements for being able to join this group?

LOOKING AHEAD, THIS MUST BE FOUGHT NOW or we will get a global version of “THE FED” based on the false “C02″ flag.

Smart people like Max should know better… it is blatantly obvious what they are up to. You just have to follow their reports, statements and actions. it has nothing to do with the environment.

  20. @wl

I understand, I limited the statement to carbon trading to flesh out the detail at that level.

This is the derivatives/fractional reserve banking model gone berserk.

  21. @Mark

It is not just a “carbon tax” that is the problem.

Imagine a global fractional reserve currency backed ( at least partially) by C02. That can be manipulated and devalued creating a stealth tax on the masses.

The goal is to collapse the current system and establish a new debt based one. That debt will be “climate” via C02. A tax on human life. Complete control.

The masses must be convinced of AGW via C02 for this to work.

Look at the pushers, elitist, Soros, Rothschilds, globalists, governments and corporations.

  22. Trading will never produce morality.

    Only morality will produce morality.

  23. If you can prove to the world that most of these won’t happen, then carbon trading is fine. My bet, and an easy one, i suspect, is that most of not all of these bullet points are negatives as stated, because of the nature of the business.

  24. typo:

Price discovery can (be) interfered with by certain classes of traders, with distortions in the real world as a result…

  25. I could add a #5, courtesy of Max

Price discovery can interfered with by certain classes of traders, with distortions in the real world as a result…

  26. @stacy

I am from the areas similar to the pictures shown. Normal corporate decision making processes caused that.

What needs to be proven are the following:

(1)carbon trading will not just be another trading scheme making speculators rich.

    (2) related to (1) it won’t continue to be loaded with fraud.

    (3) that the rapid de-commissioning of carbon intense industries will be offset by rapid increases in ‘green’ industries and employment. Otherwise your job-base and tax base clearly go negative.
In countries with high debt, this is not helpful.

    (4) That those industries so taxed will not pass the taxes down, regressively to the poor, who can least shoulder the burden.

I have severe doubts about most of these because, generally, morality is absent from economics.

  27. @Bel-Ami

It is you that is being led by the nose the down the road to serfdom. The books have been written for you to read… no need to ban them. The current collapsing scheme is being replaced with a new one. This is not the utopia or cure, but a continuation and strengthening of the corruption at a global level.
Sad that you are too blind to see it, maybe when it is too late. Don’t worry I’ll still fight for your freedom even if you can’t see it. Controlling C02 is the expressway to serfdom. Based on a fraud.

  28. Yes, please. I’ve grow to like Max and Stacey and to think of them as common hooligans kinda hurts. Seems like such great reasons for all the wrong things. Is that all this rise up stuff is about, a deep seeded desire to run with the mob and spit on people. I’ve always wondered why you always shouted so much Max. Wow, I’m so disapointed

  30. Wow Max and Stacey! I know those people surly deserve pooh thrown at them. But I hardly see such a horrible ending the thing you should be pushing for. Let’s go back to the dark ages and throw pooh at each other. I may be a hopeless dreamer but i think something good is coming for the end of time and i think if you don’t start thinking that way you are going to manifest your own destiny.

  31. You people talk about the slave wage arbitrage of industrial revolutions as though it were somthing new. If you want to get a head start on what cheap labour source corporations seek to exploit then start following those companies that build up an infrastructure of a nation. Power companies road / rail telecommunications. Follow the wishes and actions of the International Development Banks. It takes years of planning to make a middle class redundant, it also takes their money.

  32. “it was decided to privately wage a quiet war against the American public with an ultimate objective of permanently shifting the natural and social energy (wealth) of the undisciplined and irresponsible many into the hands of the self-disciplined, responsible, and worthy few.”

This is the complete opposite of what has happened. Financiers, Hedge Fund Managers, Bankers, Big Oil and War Contractors have received the “Social Energy”(Wealth) and can hardly be referred to as a “self-disciplined, responsible and worthy” minority against the law abiding citizens they victimized. It is a common, and false, meme in the US that the middle class and poor lack discipline and are irresponsible and undereducated. The Iraq War, Financial Crash of 2008 and the many Ecological Disasters of recent years were crimes in which the “responsible” parties lack of discipline suffered no sanction as the people not responsible(taxpayers) paid the cost. I recall a guest on one of Max’s shows discussing Gresham’s Law, where the most irresponsible and criminal actors thrive, ruling in today’s economic system. It seems the same phenomena is occurring in Diplomacy where the War Criminals and Policy Bunglers of the Bush regime are being rewarded with more money. Bush era foreign policy hacks like Kagan, Clapper, Gates are still running the war machine. Turn on the TV to any news show. Invariably it will contain the same “Foreign Policy Experts” who backed and cheerleaded the disastrous and criminal Iraq War. They continue to support the Afghan nightmare and are now openly pushing for a new war against Iran. Xe(the new name of Blackwater) got a over a $100 million contract in Afghanistan. This system seems to reward the worst and most blighted, not the best and brightest.

Perhaps what you quoted was sarcasm?

I do agree with the Huxley/Orwell type bifurcation of the political landscape.
We use terror to fight terror to “protect our freedoms”. This is where Orwellian doublespeak melts into Huxleian Soma. And the voting cattle chew……

One can see the phoney left/right polarity in US politics as merely a Huxley/Orwell divide. As the economic situation worsens the more it tips towards an Orwellian tableau. Less people have the ability to feel any comfort. And then you have Gerald Celente’s siren call: “When people have nothing left to lose, they lose it.”

A previous poster stated Al Gore, the man who supported NAFTA and GATT, was a “RED”. What has Al Gore ever done for Labor or Unions? Al Gore is your garden variety DC plutocrat. Just as Clinton teamed up with Goldman Sachs and runs various charities, etc Gore has found a cause to earn tons of cash. Gore’s greed and misuse of MMGW has nothing to do with the reality well documented by legitimate climate scientists.

It seems WL and Anything but sense again are trapped in a mental kennel and react like Pavlovian bitches when anyone dares mention MMGW. They bark and whine the same drivel over and over as if someone pissed on THEIR ground. “Eco-Marxism”, etc.

The Middle Class and Industry in the US has already been destroyed by the Free Trading Libertarian Monetarists who have, without exception, ran the economy from Nixon to the present. Financialization leads to capital deprivation and displacement. Labor was the first victim. Now it is time for Small Business to die. Only huge conglomerates can afford to displace industry and labor pools to India, China, Bangladesh, Vietnam and parts of South America. Every Wal-Mart in the US is a Globalist “Victory Mosque”(using Right Wing Hate imagery against Right Wing Corporatists) over the defeat of US Labor. Inside each US Corporations peddle cheap goods manufactured by cheaper Asian labor.
The US worker is no longer exploitable. Al Gore supported this process.

Max and Stacy have both, on numerous occasions, stated that noting MMGW in no way supports Carbon Credit tax schemes. And Max wasn’t wrong when he stated that US Industry creates ecological disasters they never pay for–> Bhopal, India(Union Carbide–wholly owned subsidiary of Dow). Niger River Basin(Exxon)—just a few of many. We could go on and add US War Contractors polluting Serbia, Iraq and Afghanistan with Depleted Uranium munitions. The Radiation poisoning from this weaponry has caused record incidences of cancer and birth defects where they were used. They have also afflicted the health of thousands of US soldiers who had the misfortune of serving in those areas.

Principles of justice alone merit that the entities committing these acts of malfeasance must compensate the victims. To desire justice for those victimized by powerful entities, government or corporate, is not some “Red Conspiracy”. Without such a principle we’d go back to Feudal Lords raiding and killing serfs with impunity. They, like corporations and governments of today, had the Law, and God, on their side. They were the law ordained by God according to their views. From Gilles de Rais to Bush and Blankfein, has much changed? A little has. Gilles de Rais had to answer for his crimes.

  33. … be a creator and create your own friggen website to post this crap on and put an end to wasting space here. MrJones

My chief interest on this site is to advocate bailout of the debtors (with an equal amount to savers) and the allowance of alternative currencies so I am very much on topic there. Also, I dispute the CO2 scare. I’ll use any tool I desire to that end including the Bible and LOGIC.

Don’t let the door etc. on your way out if you don’t like it.

  34. @stacy

That’s right. The tricky bit though is to appear benign rather than totalitarian. They achieve this through Quiet Wares and Silent Weapons (courtesy of recent blog poster):

“it was decided to privately wage a quiet war against the American public with an ultimate objective of permanently shifting the natural and social energy (wealth) of the undisciplined and irresponsible many into the hands of the self-disciplined, responsible, and worthy few.”

And how do they achieve this? Do this >> To get this

Keep the public ignorant >> Less public organization

    Create preoccupation >> Lower defenses

Attack the family unit >> Control of the education of the young

Give less cash and more credit and doles >> More self-indulgence and more data

Maximize control >> Minimum resistance to control

    http://www.lawfulpath.com/ref/sw4qw/#twentyseven

  35. @Hawkeye – ah, fascinating; thanks for that handy summary; yes, I see, in that case, that the US (and many other countries, UK, for example) embodies all that both Orwell and Huxley feared; the governments operate in an Orwellian manner, despite the fact that the population is as Huxley would fear; I suppose the government must behave in the totalitarian manner as per Orwell for the part of the population that isn’t passive

  36. @stacy

There is always the risk of that spectre. I tend to float between Orwell & Huxley thought. Neil Postman sums it up perfectly:

“What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one.
Orwell feared those who would deprive us information. Huxley feared those who would give us so much that we would be reduced to passivity and egoism.
Orwell feared that the truth would be concealed from us. Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance.
Orwell feared we would become a captive culture. Huxley feared we would become a trivial culture, preoccupied with some equivalent of the feelies, the orgy porgy, and the centrifugal bumblepuppy”

  37. http://www2.sunysuffolk.edu/westn/oil.html
” In 1970, the United States, which had been steadily increasing its oil consumption as the economy grew, was, for the first time, unable to produce as much as it was consuming. From that time on, the United States became a net importer of oil. Dependence on the international oil market meant that the United States was no longer able to export oil in order to stabilize the price.”

  38. @Hawkeye – yes, but your nuanced understanding is going to be difficult to discuss with these people:

  39. @wl

It has nothing to do with state / markets, or left vs. right.

Industrialism started to hit limits in the 60s / 70s. The USA & Britain saw this coming and so decided to financialise their economies because the model of high wage industrialism was unsustainable.

In reality financialisation lead to the rape & pillage of the former industrial power houses (Germany & Japan at least managed to retain this to some extent).

China is picking up the Industrial powerhouse mantle whilst some in the US attempt to profit from this structural M&A event.

As fossil fuel energy is becoming less efficient (study EROEI) and there is no credible alternative energy source as efficient abundant & portable, China will preside over the rotting carcass of a post-industrial wasteland (but not before the US gets there first!).

  40. @snoop – as you can see, however, much of the American population are trained attack dogs to keep any progress; and this makes sense in a way, not only because of the oil industry propaganda, but also the US does have the biggest military and most other nations seem happy to see them invade oil rich countries; if you want to find alternative energy sources, you just have to step away from such a de-industrialized nation; without industry there is zero way that the US is ever going to have the ability to innovate new energy sources; but a great deal of work is being done in Europe and Asia and Brazil, so I very much doubt the post-America world is going to continue down this same path of denialism

  41. They talk about a lost decade for Japan, but thanks to Nixon completely going off the gold standard and getting other countries to pay for wars to institutionalise the oil industry we have a lost generation of alternative energy. The problem was of course made a lot worse under Bush. There was no progress and that’s what was needed to keep industry going in the US. They had to keep a step ahead but it was all diverted to military spending and the cream of alternative energy never really made it to the top. It was either bought out or dissolved or waits for some emerging economy to pick it up and develop it. My opinion anyway.

  50. That is an astute assessment there, Mark Lytle.

To be fair, and clear, I do not castigate Karmabank. That is not the point. The explanation is in the friendship and the business association with Goldsmith.

You may and may not have noticed, but I called on WL to find something that would explain the anomaly of the Marx-Stazi brain block on AGW hysteria, which, as you suggest, is totally at odds with the rest of their work. And in response, WL and anything but green have started digging up the connections and associations. All I am saying is that they have been successful in that effort by pointing to the Goldsmith connection. At least the whole anomaly starts making sense, and possibly more is going to come to light in due course. Sweet Dreams.

But we have a country of 300+ million people! Granted, a lot of us are equally shitty, but given the extent of power of the executive branch…I just don’t understand how we could not find someone who can keep the car on the damn road.

After the last 8 years…it gets worse (or worse to worse). Just keep the damn thing on the road, why is that so hard for these loons? We have 40 million on food stamps, trillion dollar deficits as far as the eye can see….20% unemployment…

AND the shit ain’t hit the fan yet!

With all the talk of evolution and questioning if we evolved from monkeys and the declination from that idea, I would have to say, yet it is true. We never evolved…we are just as dumb. Nothing has changed. All it’s going to take is some sob to put his finger on the trigger and we are all microwaved like a tv dinner. We are half the way there now!

In the new Time magazine article, re how Obama became Mr. Unpopular, it refers to a poll that only 33% believe he is a Christian. Although Obama states he is a Christian, only 1/3 believe it. Some of that 2/3 think he is a Muslim and some of that 2/3 thinks he is a liar.

In video: Obama, “half-black, half-white, Muslim immigrant and hates this country.” Yeah that sounds about right.

that is exactly how i felt about nyc! but everyone there that i talked to loved it. and i read some polls taken that everyone loved it. it was hard to find many that felt the same way that i thought. actually, many understood my analysis and could see it in their own lives…but somehow they seemed to still love it. the point of that makes the onion piece all the more funny for me…as if people finally woke up to it all!

Yeah, Stacy is alright, I like Stacy, she says what she believes even if she is wrong. Max, however. is more devious, don’t trust him. you know when he was a kid he helped with a Power Skating program in Canada. It was a scam I knew well, hockey players were convinced to take figure skating lessons under the Orwellian name “POWER SKATING”. Max helped set up the orange cones and is responsible for the emasculation of Hockey players to this day. Just as a child Soros helped the Nazis take items from the Jews, patterns are established young.

Max is now aiding the elites in a global scam…. He should know better.

Not sure where Stacy stands on all this. I don’t think we want to make Stacy feel bad. If Carbon trading gets widely instituted, it will destroy what’s left of the economy. Just as Max intervened in that motion picture futures trading scheme, because it would have taken down the whole motion picture industry, carbon trading will be like a nuclear weapon, wiping out most of the industrial world.

I think you are doing Max and Stacy a favor by demanding consistency in their positions. It’s better that they decide which path they are to take down the road now, than a couple of years from now.

Life is a series of choices, and we all mess up somewhere in our lives. I did a Wikisearch on Max and most of his activism looks fine.
Except for the Carbon-trading and Global warming thing. That puts him in a bad place.

  82. One last comment before I sign off for the night.

Max and Stacy are highly competent commentators of what’s going on in the financial world. I don’t see anything wrong really with Karmabanque, activism is a good thing and it’s clever.

But guys, on the internet, stuff gets around. I run a small blog, I know how many lurkers are out there, I know how many visits. You guys are getting pretty big, and a lot of people have read these threads.

You can’t back carbon trading, and say some of the things you say.

I still find you guys entertaining, but your reputation is your business, and if you throw stuff out there that doesn’t show consistency in all your positions, well, you know what will eventually happen…

People in the wider community will never accept carbon trading as a moral position. The more you harp on the inerrancy of the Global Warming thing, people will make connections. They’ll assume you really don’t care about the little guy. Clearly many people hear are voicing that, already. That will be the future…

It all about class, the elites vs the masses. they use the left/right fog to control it all.

The financial system is being taken down, it has run its life, debts can never be paid, the elites have milked it. A new system is being readied to replace it, a carbon based fiat one.

Max has the savers vs speculators thing backwards….

Savers are the speculators as they are forced to gamble to get any return thanks to the low interest rates. Speculators (Bankers) gamble with other peoples money, they keep the profits and the downside is covered by the taxpayer. No speculation there.

  85. sounds like jr Max is a jr Soros Wannabe elitist…

Soros, Rothschilds, James Goldsmith (Rothschilds cousin and father of Zak goldsmith) connections

    http://www.questionsquestions.net/docs04/engdahl-soros.html

Soros proclaimed in March 1993, with great publicity, that the price of gold was about to rise sharply; he said that he had just gotten “inside information” that China was about to buy huge sums of gold for its booming economy. Soros was able to trigger a rush into buying gold, which caused prices to rise more than 20% over four months, to the highest level since 1991. Typically for Soros, once the fools rushed in to push prices higher, Soros and his friend Sir James Goldsmith secretly began selling their gold at a huge profit.

    ——-

Soros’s relation to the Rothschild finance circle represents no ordinary or casual banking connection. It goes a long way to explain the extraordinary success of a mere private speculator, and Soros’s uncanny ability to “gamble right” so many times in such high-risk markets. Soros has access to the “insider track” in some of the most important government and private channels in the world.

    ———

A frequent business partner of Soros in various speculative deals, including in the 1993 gold manipulation, although not on the Quantum Fund directly, is the Anglo-French speculator Sir James Goldsmith, a cousin of the Rothschild family.

    ——–

Soros’s business ties to Sir James Goldsmith and Lord Rothschild place him in the inner circles of the Thatcher wing of the British establishment. By helping the “anti-Europe” Thatcherites pull Britain out of the ERM in September 1992 (and making more than $1 billion in the process at British taxpayer expense), Soros helped the long-term goal of the Thatcherites in weakening continental Europe’s economic stability. Since 1904 , it has been British geopolitical strategy to prevent by all means any successful economic linkage between western continental European economies, especially that of Germany, with Russia and the countries of eastern Europe.

    ——

Soros admits that he survived in Nazi Hungary during the war, as a Jew, by adopting what he calls a double personality. “I have lived with a double personality practically all my life,” Soros recently stated. “It started at age fourteen in Hungary, when I assumed a false identity in order to escape persecution as a Jew.” Soros admitted in a radio interview that his father gave him Nazi credentials in Hungary during the war, and he looted wealthy Jewish estates. Further research showed that this operation was probably run by the SS.

  86. The problem I have is there has been a lot of talk here about the war of savers and speculators.

Then here’s Max on this 2006 link extolling the virtues of carbon trading, which is loaded with fraud, and it just hammers the ordinary folks, and it’s totally elitist.

  91. Europe’s Carbon Mafia, And Ours

    http://www.climatechangefraud.com/editorials/6926-europes-carbon-mafia-and-ours

The carbon trading system being pushed here has spawned crime and fraud across the pond. Cap-and-trade is not about saving the planet. It’s about money and power, and absolute power corrupting absolutely.

All across Europe authorities have been conducting raids, rounding up individuals involved in a new version of Climate-gate. This time the data aren’t corrupted. Europe’s Emissions Trading System is. The system is so sick, it’s turned out to be a scam built upon a scam.

Twenty-five people have been arrested in raids by British and German authorities as part of a pan-European crackdown on carbon credit VAT tax fraud.

U.K. officials announced raids on 81 offices and homes, nabbing 13 people in England and eight in Scotland. The operation involved 450 investigators from Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs office.

German authorities raided 230 locations, including the headquarters of Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt and the offices of RWE, one of the largest energy firms in Europe. The German operation involved 1,000 investigators targeting 50 companies and 150 suspects.

The amount of money involved in carbon trading is huge and the temptations vast. While our Congress demagogues about banks and their “complex financial instruments,” they are simple compared to cap-and-trade, which as we have noted involves essentially the buying and selling of air. Throw in an oppressive value-added tax and you have a recipe for corruption and fraud.

  92. Been doing a little surfing. An advanced search of ‘carbon trading’ and the word ‘fraud’ gives 3800 hits.

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (CBS.MW) — Mad as hell about corporate policy? A new hedge fund is, and it’s putting its money where its mouth is with an investment strategy of shorting shares of companies with which it takes issue.

By buying put options, or shorting a stock, the hedge fund hopes shares will fall, in effect punishing a company for what it calls “misdeeds” and profiting all the while. A portion of profits will go toward mending the social wounds inflicted by target companies.

The fund is the brainchild of Max Keiser, the investment activist, for lack of a better definition, who launched Karmabanque.com several years ago on a similar philosophy. Zac Goldsmith, son of famed corporate raider Sir James Goldsmith, is also a partner in the venture. Goldsmith’s The Ecologist magazine will audit, track and publish results.

  98. I heard that someone asks the Aliens about universe beginnings but they don’t know either. Youri

They’re lying, IMO. Since life is statistically impossible in this universe then life on Earth was created. If so then there was a Creator. The God of the Bible by far is the most likely candidate. For instance, the Bible speaks of God who “stretches out the heavens”. That sounds exactly like the expansion of the Universe. There are many other indicators too. See that web site I mentioned if interested. The only other intelligent life in this universe is God (of course) and the good angels and the wicked angels. Of course both sets of angels know they were created so any purported aliens are liars if they profess ignorance of their origin.

  117. Employers Already Passing Increased Health Care Costs Onto Workers http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-healthcare-costs-20100903,0,5489126,full.story

  118. One point not often appreciated about fossil fuels.

    Energy Density.

A non-fossil fuel world does entail some compromises.

For example. one gallon of gasoline, which weighs about 6 pounds can power an efficient car about 30 miles.

The batteries in a Hybrid car will take you a similar distance without the assistance of the gasoline engine, but those batteries weigh hundreds of pounds.

Lithium batteries are considerably better, but still no match for gasoline, weight for weight

So some sacrifices in driving lifestyle _are_coming with the end of the fossil furl era…

  119. Max Keiser writes….

“For environmentalists, I think carbon trading offers a huge opportunity to turn the tables on business and use the power of irrationality for a positive change.

Take a group like Greenpeace for example. They have over 100 million dollars sitting in the bank collecting money market interest. For all intents and purposes, this money is what Wall Street would call, ‘dead money.’ I propose the following. Greenpeace should start organizing a banking crusade with their money and other NGO money (NGO’s combined operating budgets are worth 1 trillion dollars) and start buying Carbon Credits in the open market for the current price of approximately 8 dollars a ton. (the EU has started a program of capping carbon emissions for corporations; but giving them the opportunity to go over their cap by buying ‘credits’ from companies whose carbon output is below the cap).

This would set up an irrational chain reaction, each part of which represents a net positive for the environment. First, the price of carbon credits will be pressured upward thanks to the speculative buying of a new force in the market, NGO’s. Corporations who are banking on the price of carbon credits to remain in a certain range will be forced to recalculate their assumptions and in many cases will be forced to buy more credits than they had planned to in the short term to give themselves the kind of hedging protection these carbon credits offer for their carbon abuse.

This will drive the price even higher. As demand goes up, so does the price and now we get to the irrational part; higher carbon prices will incentivize companies across the business spectrum to put forward various carbon-efficiency schemes as a way to make money with their excess credits. The money a company makes chasing carbon efficiencies could equal if not eclipse the profits made burning carbon. The government in turn, has the ability to lower the carbon caps greasing this contrarian cycle even more by making carbon more expensive, thus providing more incentive to produce greater efficiencies”

    http://www.stwr.org/climate-change-environment/george-soros-irrationality-and-contrarian-activism.html

Max and Stacy are fully invested in AGW to a point beyond reasoned debate. They can only promote the C02 demonization. The biggest problem with their climate debt mantra is that it actually hurts the poor not corporations. Corporations never pay….

You may also find that there are companies, individuals with vested interests in pushing the man-made climate change idea.

I often wondered why the Commies felt the need to suppress religion. Actually, a God-fearing population is a benefit to the nation. The Commies, for instance, tried to suppress pornography, drug use and drunkenness.

Talking of floods and flood plains, did you know that in a study of environmental disasters (i.e. floods etc not pollution type ones) there has been observed NO change in frequency or severity.

The reason they are APPEARING as more and more severe is simply because of population migration – people are, as you say, moving to flood plains to live as they move to higher populated areas.

I don’t know why I point this out to you nolcalkid, only that you mentioned floods and poor people.

    • George Wald, Harvard Biologist

“We are in an environmental crisis which threatens the survival of this nation, and of the world as a suitable place of human habitation.”
    • Barry Commoner, Washington University biologist

“Man must stop pollution and conserve his resources, not merely to enhance existence but to save the race from intolerable deterioration and possible extinction.”
    • New York Times editorial, the day after the first Earth Day

“Population will inevitably and completely outstrip whatever small increases in food supplies we make. The death rate will increase until at least 100-200 million people per year will be starving to death during the next ten years.”
    • Paul Ehrlich, Stanford University biologist

“By…[1975] some experts feel that food shortages will have escalated the present level of world hunger and starvation into famines of unbelievable proportions. Other experts, more optimistic, think the ultimate food-population collision will not occur until the decade of the 1980s.”
    • Paul Ehrlich, Stanford University biologist

“It is already too late to avoid mass starvation.”
    • Denis Hayes, chief organizer for Earth Day

“Demographers agree almost unanimously on the following grim timetable: by 1975 widespread famines will begin in India; these will spread by 1990 to include all of India, Pakistan, China and the Near East, Africa. By the year 2000, or conceivably sooner, South and Central America will exist under famine conditions….By the year 2000, thirty years from now, the entire world, with the exception of Western Europe, North America, and Australia, will be in famine.”
    • Peter Gunter, professor, North Texas State University

“Scientists have solid experimental and theoretical evidence to support…the following predictions: In a decade, urban dwellers will have to wear gas masks to survive air pollution…by 1985 air pollution will have reduced the amount of sunlight reaching earth by one half….”
    • Life Magazine, January 1970

“At the present rate of nitrogen buildup, it’s only a matter of time before light will be filtered out of the atmosphere and none of our land will be usable.”
    • Kenneth Watt, Ecologist

Stanford’s Paul Ehrlich announces that the sky is falling.
“Air pollution…is certainly going to take hundreds of thousands of lives in the next few years alone.”
    • Paul Ehrlich, Stanford University biologist

“By the year 2000, if present trends continue, we will be using up crude oil at such a rate…that there won’t be any more crude oil. You’ll drive up to the pump and say, `Fill ‘er up, buddy,’ and he’ll say, `I am very sorry, there isn’t any.’”
    • Kenneth Watt, Ecologist

“Dr. S. Dillon Ripley, secretary of the Smithsonian Institute, believes that in 25 years, somewhere between 75 and 80 percent of all the species of living animals will be extinct.”
    • Sen. Gaylord Nelson

“The world has been chilling sharply for about twenty years. If present trends continue, the world will be about four degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990, but eleven degrees colder in the year 2000. This is about twice what it would take to put us into an ice age.”

  145. So call me a commie pinko environmentalist tree hugger, because I am! I participated in the first Earth Day so long ago. The fact is, the earth and its atmosphere are nearly a closed system; pollution is not just a “local” problem because we all ultimately share the same air and water. The climate is changing, and we ought to do something to mitigate the untold suffering this will cause to the poorest of the poor, who often live on flood plains.

  146. My suspicion is that Max has a little of the stuff going on the Alex Jones has going on. You read enough negative stuff all day, you get ‘apocalyptic’ feelings and a sense of extreme urgency.
From that position it would seem natural to assume that the world will end tomorrow, and humans are causing all of it.

Now, there’s always a chance that’s true, but the maths are not up to the task to prove it conclusively.

But people will feel it nonetheless. It becomes a ‘felt conviction.’

Imagine the view of life that cops end up with, dealing with their negative world. Makes ‘em pretty stirred up, it does…

But they’re still trying to do their jobs…

  154. Jobless claims have risen 10% since early July.

Economists surveyed by MarketWatch had expected initial claims to total about 473,000 — the same as the week before. Yet claims in the prior week were revised up by 5,000 to a total of 478,000, basically canceling out the latest decline.

The four-week average of initial claims — a better gauge of employment trends than the volatile week-to-week number — declined 2,500 to 485,500, according to data released by the Labor Department.

Absent a stronger jobs report, the unemployment rate is expected to remain near a 27-year high. It stood at 9.5% at the end of July. The U.S. needs to add nearly 150,000 jobs a month to reduce the jobless rate.

    Jobless claims 472,000 http://www.marketwatch.com/story/weekly-us-jobless-claims-drop-6000-to-472000-2010-09-02

  155. I keep looking these references up, but I haven’t seen anywhere yet that Max has endorsed carbon taxes per se . I think he just wants the West to own up to it’s own gluttony.

I think as an economist he would not be advocating higher taxes on a collapsing world economy, because a wrecked western world would no longer have the resources to address the problem.

It would be nice if at some point, from an economist’s perspective, he would lay out what he _would_ do. That would go along way to stop this endless debate.

I really don’t care if someone thinks that the science is settled. I only am concerned with the program to get us away from fossil fuels.
It has to be economically sensible. That’s all that matters.

when I read Maxy’s statement, I can read it as just another vacous statements made against the explotation of Imperilism and Colonolism has wrought in much of the underdeveloped world, an empty platitude of an upper crust educated former Wall Street huckster, which eases his concious

but that is me peverting the statements as much as you do

  157. @WL,

Why are you so upset at Max and Stacy? Sure they’re wrong about CO2 but so what? Most of us can accept that. They worship science because they are not scientists themselves and are thus in awe. They don’t realize that politics and the need to eat trump scientific objectivity.

I find this grouping of words moronic, Marx as the last classic economist made the same mistake that all his brethern did…namely not being concerned in the least with the material world, or trying to formulate TRUE COST…some of my fellow travlers may gravitated to one or two statements in reams of writtings that paint him Green, but it isn’t there… just one of his limitations, but he would freely admit this seeing that it confirms his central thesis, namely ideas present themselves dependant upon the material conditions of their historical time frame…Marx was a man birth from the Enlightenment, where the Man and Reason were the dominant cultural hegemony…Marx profligated the political theory to maximize human comfort regaurdless of the impact on sustainabilty, which never entered his mind and if it did it was a triffling thing

  161. The only thing I will say about statements about Climate debts and that sort of thing, is that in a way the ‘West’ does have a kind of responsibility for the fact it has burned most of the carbon fuels up to this point, and it has created a vast empire to facilitate this grab of resources. It has killed millions of people in this grab. The list goes on. Is there a debt of sorts, yes.

The way to redress this is for the U.S. to get it’s act together, and be a leader in renouncing this whole behavioral set. Taxes on a dying empire won’t get you there, and I’ll bet that Max wasn’t saying that, because it wouldn’t make sense.

Now I will not go as far as Max and say the science has been settled. The science is highly politicized, and I’m not sure the way it’s run you would even call it science, but that’s a separate issue.

The only point is that fossil fuels are bad.
The only question is how you change…

Climate Change and Wrongful Birth Insurance

    by Max Keiser
Sun Aug 15, 2010 at 01:27:48 AM PDT

The bottom line is, the science has been decided, and industry and finance – and markets too – all agree. There are only a few holdouts now in the global warming/climate change denial camp. Their numbers are small, but the attention they get from Big Petrochemical Media (BPM) is large so it’s hard to notice them ripping off as much as they can from various carbon welfare schemes. The result is a huge climate debt being racked up in America’s name.

    * Max Keiser’s diary :: ::
    *

But Americans will never pay their carbon debts no matter how much it hurts them not to do so.

They behave like home owners who’ve gone ‘negative equity’ on homes they can’t sell and walk away; leaving behind ‘jingle mail’ for the bank.

Americans are walking away from their carbon debts.

Considering the proportion of pollution Americans contribute to the causes of global warming/climate change relative to their small size as a population (less than 5% of the world’s population), simple math will tell you that the 1 trillion in damages done recently by Americans to the global environment works out to about $10,000 for every American household in climate debt obligations.

US unemployment is 22% and savings less than 4 %; GDP to Debt ratio of 1200%. How much hyperinflation does the spell for the future?

The bottom 80% of this nation only hold 7% of its wealth; the top 1% of Americans holds 42.7% – Congressmen and Senators belong to the top 20% that own 93.3% of the nation’s wealth

40 Million Americans live on Food Stamps, (survey of state data by daily USA TODAY released on Monday showed that more than 50 million Americans are on Medicaid)

In 2005, the top 25 hedge fund managers “earned” $9 billion, or an average of $360 million. One year after a financial collapse caused by the financial innovations peddled by Wall Street, the top 25 hedge fund managers paid themselves $25 billion, or an average of $1 billion a piece.

America: Gap between rich & poor widest of all industrialized nations!

Consider the CBO & IMF admits US Federal Debt 200 Trillion, (and lest we not forget the 1.5 Quadrillion in worthless derivatives out there).

Obviously many Anglo-Saxon nations are run by bankers (not the sheeple); and currently those bankers (Trilateral Commission, et al), are sending the debt among debtor nations back and forth between themselves – Kind of like a shell came.

For example: When the Swiss ran low on funds due to Latvia debt, the USA banks bailed them out via TARP funds; now these men are going to send US debt back over seas…

The big ball of debt just keeps getting passed back and forth among Anglo-Saxon Nations – We see the same thing at the national bank level whereby the banks pass debt back and forth amongst themselves pretending it’s an asset; or in the US where the FED and Treasury pass debt back and forth! It’s all a shell game!

  174. @Mark Lytle – thank you for that; it’s just when WL has 1000 word conversations with himself talking in the middle of the forum board street about things that we supposedly said, well, it’s amazing to me that people listen in a way that they wouldn’t if they passed that same person in the real street; so it’s hard for me to respond to him when, to me, it just sounds like utter nonsense and, of course, off putting to the people that do like to have normal, coherent conversation

My impression of you and Max is a positive one. I don’t think either of you are illogical, so it doesn’t make sense you would call for a redistribution of wealth in a world economy that’s failing and losing wealth, even if you were in to that sort of thing, which I don’t believe you are.

Short answer, what you say here makes sense.

  177. @WL – I only learned that it was Koch behind Washington Legal Foundation since Jane Mayer’s piece; because evidently they aren’t as open as George Soros about where they put their money to work underwriting propaganda and hate . . . but apparently that doesn’t matter if the color is right (Red Team) on the issue

This is the belittling these two spew. I did not criticize the Fund in any way. I merely pointed out some connections that make Max and Stacy compromised in their AGW agenda. Now. It seems the evil Koch Brothers meme has some history to it.

Stacy, do tell more…. Any more connections we should know about…

  182. @wl

I can’t comment on that because I wasn’t here to see it. It’s odd if true, because in the near future there won’t be any wealth to redistribute, the way things are going.

The ‘West’ is soooooooo bankrupt. I don’t even understand where this money to be redistributed is going to come from.

  183. @Dedo

And I’m sure a spark will come to you, sooner or later. Hang in there!

  184. @Mark

Alex can be loud, over-bearing and generally annoying at times. But I think he’s much more likely to try and convince you of his argument rather than shout you down or call you names. But more importantly, I get the feeling that he at least actually cares about people. Max & Stacy, uh…, I’m just not so sure.

  185. @mirrormirror

Yeah, getting older has taught me some things… I used to be like the younger ones here, if someone didn’t agree with me they were crazy, etc. Then I found out over time, some of those people were right, I was the crazy one…

  186. @Mark Lytle

Max has called for a global redistribution of wealth via climate debts. This is Eco Marxism (not my term).

Now this depends upon the demonizing of C02, so…

I have asked Max this question.. many times

If C02 did not cause global warming or climate change…

Do you still believe in global redistribution of wealth via climate debts?

He ignores my question and hides like a little girl..

Skeptics are crucial to the scientific process, so when they are belittled and labeled Holocaust deniers, (by Max) ted flags go up. They are trying to push an agenda, not science.

If you bypass the propaganda and politics and read the actual science, you will see that it just not there. So, why is it pushed so hard?

  189. @tony

I would mention, I like Alex Jones also, but I know he thinks peak oil is a globalist plot. If I called in to his show and said I disagreed with that, he would probably call me every name in the book. Knowing that, I still admire his heart and his intentions.

But he would never understand that….

  190. @Mark Lytle … ” It’s important to understand that people you disagree with can still be very capable… “

    LOL
In other words … you are saying that most people that might disagree with “you” “can still be sane” !
    ;-)

BTW … M&S do great work on the Financial Scandal side.
My fear is that they light lose half their audience by doing this MMGW thingy. That would be a shame IMO.

  191. @Mark

Agreed. Basically, these two have brought the poison to the debate on this site. At first there was some discussion, but then they stooped to name calling and just generally buffoonish behavior. I’ve pretty much quit coming here, just stopped by today because Alex Jones was lambasting Max a bit on his show. But it’s just the same old crap.

Anyway, hopefully I’ve helped a few newcomers.

  192. @WL – the Karmabanque fund is above your head and that’s the only thing that is ‘elite’ about it; the Koch brothers paid for a legal opinion on the fund; they used their legal arm, Washington Legal Foundation, and here is the pdf of the opinion on it so you know what you are supposed to think as per the Kochs’ instructions: http://www.wlf.org/upload/012805LOLRibstein.pdf as you see, the legal author indicates that you will feel angry at the idea but suggests it will be because you do not understand it, that’s the thing about genius

  193. I also would be against any tax scheme that would collapse the economy. The economy is sick as it is…

  194. @tony

I guess eventually, we need a clarification from our hosts as to how far they want to push this thing, global tax credits or what. That’s where the debate needs to go. I visit this board periodically, but I don’t live here. Maybe there’s something I missed.

It’s possible to believe in some measure of Human effects on climate without being a Nazi.

I don’t think it’s a closed case on either side, so I favor gradual movement away from fossil fuels. Like suspending oil company’s tax credits to level the playing field versus renewables. I don’t believe in raising taxes.

So it depends on what Max and Stacy want to do to get us away from Fossil Fuels. Just saying your against fossil fuels doesn’t make you a Nazi.

  196. In my view evil is stupidity incarnate.

  197. @Mark

They’re pimping a scam that brings with it the possibility of doing real harm to real people. Both mentally and physically. Real enslavement. Real loss of liberty. What the hell is first rate about that? I guess you would consider the average politburo member or fascist dictator to have a first rate mind, as well.
    I would not.

  198. I will say that even though I might disagree with them on a few points.

It’s important to understand that people you disagree with can still be very capable…

  199. @tony

I don’t see cronyism here. I see it’s opposite, “entrepreneurism”.

Also I think they have first rate minds. I see no lack of ability.

  200. @Jayme – thanks

@Bonn – did you try all the standard things like clearing your cache

  201. @Mark

And yet in a fiat monetary system that favors cronyism over ability, isn’t it fair to be wary of the children of those who have flourished in a mafia-like enviroment?

Give them the initial benefit of the doubt? Sure. But that’s as far as it goes.

  202. I would add I have well educated friends who are just as fanatical about global warming as Max and Stacy, and they’re not rich, they just have moderately good jobs and are middle class.

So Global Warming fundamentalism is not only the pattern among the illuminatti…

  203. I generally agree with most of Max and Stacy’s positions. The green thing has me a little puzzled because I think green should be done for environmental reasons you can prove, like lower toxins in the ecosphere, that sort of thing.

The Climate models are rather poor in many respects, and there has been more than enough documentation put out on this board to suggest their limits.

I also don’t know if apocalyptic sales programs are entirely a good idea. But they have to be a little sensationalist to sell copy. It is a media business after all.

I think I just don’t buy into the idea that all people that had well-off backgrounds are always untrustworthy. I’m seeing what looks like a (perceived) class war break out right here on this board.

My point would be this. If you agree with them on something, say so. If you don’t, say so. Since that is mostly what’s happening anyway, I think things are as they should be.

I guess you would have to show me how Max and Stacy are making unfair profits or something off of global warming. It stops being idealism if they’re pushing their own carbon credits scheme or something. I haven’t seen any evidence of that. That’s why I think it’s idealism.

  204. @WL

Good post. The evidence of their deceit continues to overwhelm the climate fraudsters, and yet the public school brainwashing still proves incredibly difficult to crack.

Wake up, people. It’s the so called deniers who actually care about the environment. You will wake up eventually, of course. But you’re so damned annoying at times while we wait for you.

Anti-capitalist think tank which funded with taxpayer dollars

Opposes free market-based methods of protecting the environment

Founded in 1982, the World Resources Institute (WRI) describes itself as “an environmental think tank that goes beyond research to find practical ways to protect the earth and improve people’s lives.” Former Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) administrator Russell Train, who was the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Board Chairman and a Rockefeller Foundation Board member, was instrumental in securing $15 million in seed money from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, plus $10 million more from the Andrew K. Mellon Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation, to launch WRI.

Other WRI founders include: ecologist George Woodwell, who established the Environmental Defense Fund and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC); physicist Murray Gell-Mann, a former Director of the MacArthur Foundation; and WRI’s first President, James Gustave Speth, who co-founded NRDC, was a member of Bill Clinton’s White House transition team, and now heads the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

WRI was meant to be “a major center for policy research and analysis addressed to global resource and environmental issues.” Its annual revenue is now nearly $20 million, and its assets total approximately $45 million, of which $34.9 million is invested in securities, according to recent IRS disclosures and WRI’s annual report. WRI boasts that it “has a staff of 150 professionals from more than 20 nations, connected to a network of advisors, collaborators, international fellows, and partner institutions in more than 50 countries.”

According to the WRI website, the organization’s objectives are to: “provide objective information and practical proposals for policy changes that will foster environmentally sound development”; and to combat “[t]he most serious of the world’s environmental threats — deforestation, desertification, and global climate change.” In order to accomplish the latter, WRI recommends that the U.S. cede environmental decision-making to the United Nations because environmental “challenges” are “more global in scope and international in implication.”

Much of WRI’s work has been geared toward addressing the alleged dangers of global warming, and the group urges U.S. acceptance of the Kyoto Protocol. WRI President Jonathan Lash, a former NRDC lawyer, has advised European governments on how to seduce Russia into implementing Kyoto in order to force U.S. acceptance of it.

WRI also collaborates biennially with the UNDP and the UN Environment Program to publish its “World Resources” reports. WRI claims these reports reach as many as 80,000 “government officials, academics, non-governmental organizations, [and] representatives of international institutions and industry,” as well as the media and other opinion-shapers around the world. Each report focuses on one environmental “problem,” which it exhaustively describes, and for which it then proposes a “solution.” These reports generally blame capitalism for many of the problems that plague humanity and the natural world. As the Capital Research Center explains, the WRI position is that “[t]he environment is degraded by a global ‘economic system that rewards exploitation’ and leads to ‘an inequitable distribution of property and power over natural resources … [P]rivatization often leads to greater public exclusion … since it shifts ownership — and therefore control — to corporations and other actors that do not have to answer to the general public.’”

WRI is also “leading the charge to politicize management education” with its Beyond Grey Pinstripes program, notes James Sheehan, an adjunct scholar at the Competitive Enterprise Institute. b. “[S]ocial planners believe business schools are ideal places to indoctrinate future managers and executives. By infusing MBA students with leftwing attitudes, these social planners envision a future corporate America devoid of scandal and committed to ideals other than profit.”

WRI’s Board of Directors includes former EPA administrator William D. Ruckelshaus, who was responsible for the 1972 DDT ban and had ties to the Environmental Defense Fund ; NRDC’s Frances Beinecke; and former Clinton administration Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman.

The tax-exempt WRI relies heavily on taxpayer-funded advocacy, receiving nearly one-fourth of its financing from the U.S. government. In recent years WRI has received an average of $2.7 million in annual government funding, with an all-time high topping $5 million in 1998. Its biggest government benefactor has been the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). According to the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI), WRI has used EPA global warming grants to help promote the Kyoto global warming treaty. According to the CEI’s James Sheehan, “The World Resources Institute was given $150,000 to demonstrate how the climate treaty would improve public health.” In addition to the EPA, WRI also receives financial backing from the Agriculture Department, the Department of Energy, the National Space and Aeronautics Association, and the State Department’s U.S. Agency for International Development.

WRI receives additional funding from the AT&T Foundation, the Bauman Family Foundation, the Nathan Cummings Foundation, the Energy Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the Joyce Foundation, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, Pew Charitable Trusts, the Prospect Hill Foundation, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Summit Foundation, the Surdna Foundation, the Turner Foundation, and numerous others.

Some interesting SELECT quotes from that report… A blueprint for global eco-marxism FUNDED BY THE US TAXPAYER (EPA)

    What is climate finance?

Climate finance is the channeling of public resources towards developing countries for mitigation and adaptation efforts to respond to the causes and impacts of climate change through frameworks and mechanisms that are equitable, leverage private sector capital, and in line with national development goals.

    Special drawing rights

“Special drawing rights” (SDRs) are “international reserve assets” issued by the IMF to member countries. The IMF uses SDRs as its monetary unit of account, and the value of the SDR is based on a mix of four foreign currencies, the U.S. dollar, the Euro, the Japanese Yen and the U.K. Pound sterling. SDRs were devised in 1969, during a shortage of both dollars and gold, but have been used most recently in response to the global financial and economic crisis. The IMF has also used SDRs as a low interest
alternative to debt for countries in order to boost global liquidity during financial crises. One participant described SDRs as a “coupon” that the IMF provides to governments. SDRs have the backing of the governments on IMF’s Board of Directors. Governments hold SDRs in reserve, and can convert them into hard currency through the IMF system. Unlike other programs at the IMF, no conditions are attached to SDRs. Governments eventually repay the SDRs with an adjustable, and usually quite low, interest rate. In effect, this provides countries with a low interest finance tool. The IMF has not used SDRs in this way since 1981, but in April 2009 the G20 began to consider reusing them after the UN Stiglitz Commission highlighted SDRs as a potential solution to the financial crisis.

In Copenhagen, George Soros suggested that SDRs could be used as a tool for climate finance. Under this system, climate SDRs would be available only for developing countries, and would also be established such that financing does not only occur in the form of loans (because of the principle that developing countries should not pay their own mitigation and adaptation costs).

    Climate debt

Participants also discussed “climate debt,” a concept being spearheaded by Bolivia and many southern movements during the climate negotiations. Climate debt attempts to capture the full costs of climate change. It is based on the idea that each person has a right to an equal share of “carbon space,” and each country’s fair share is based on its population. Countries whose historical and continuing emissions exceed their fair share owe a debt to other countries. According to Bolivia’s calculation, Annex I countries only have rights to ¼ of the carbon space.

The climate debt concept can help to frame the parameters of any climate finance proposals going forward. As one participant explained, “Climate finance is not aid or assistance. It is an obligation, it is reparations.” As a result, climate finance should not come in the form of loans or other debt-creating instruments, and should not require developing countries to share the burden.

Civil society strategies for moving forward

A major goal of the strategy meeting was to determine the political feasibility of various climate finance proposals, identify time frames, and map opportunities for campaigning. Many participants agreed that by working towards a common vision, civil society organizations could have a greater influence on the climate finance debate. This strategy meeting was a first attempt to empower civil society organizations to cooperate in moving forward. As one participant explained, “It’s not a lack of will, it’s a lack of
    political muscle.”

    Creating public awareness and support

Most participants recognized the need to move the climate finance debate beyond the policy experts into the broader public. This will depend, however, on creating a successful narrative and messaging.
Many of the civil society organizations at the strategy meeting consider this a critical missing link.

    Participants raised questions such as:

    • Can we create a common narrative or vision that demystifies the climate change process?
    • How can we link climate finance to job creation during the financial crisis?
    • How can we build climate finance movements, and collaborate with other sectors, social campaigns, religious groups, and rights-based groups?
    • How can northern civil society organizations support southern civil society organizations that wish to engage in the climate finance debate?

The World Resources Institute (WRI) of which Maurice Strong was once Chairman, is an environmental think tank founded in 1982 by James (Gus) Speth with funding from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Al Gore is on the WRI board of directors. The current board chairman – James Harmon is a Senior Advisor to the Rothschild Group and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Speth was an administrator at UNEP and chair of the UN Development Group and is also on the board (and co-founder) of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. WRI Board member Frances Beineke is also the president of NRDC. Speth was co-author of “Global Environmental Governance” which states that “Global environmental governance includes but is not limited to the governance of the global commons.”

But that being said, you always have to ask ‘Who profits ?’ When I read that Al Gore, Goldman Sachs, and yes that fucker Obama in person, had shares in the credit carbon exchange, I understood. I think it unwise t underestimate the ability of the United States to reinvent itself.

True, it may have to fall back two steps to advance three but all countries in the world have issues. The US is a great country, perhaps the greatest the world has known and its constitution one of the most inspiring documents.

The US has a wel educated and motivated population, and a sea of job shops ready to start producing whatever is necessary. Ithas a level of public patriotism that is truly awesome. It has the climate and machinery for change.

Many of your arguments are based on the housing bubble, Goldman Sachs malfeasance, and terrible politicians but it will be the american people, good people far and away, that will move the United States to its next and better reworking of itself.

Its good to point out the things that need repair in the US but that will not lead us to a better US or a better world – but support the folks that will get this work done.

  217. Where is Ross Perot when we need you???? One must be careful about guilt through association, in the seven degrees of freedom between us all, that charge can be leveled recklessly.

I’m going with “wannabe elitist hangers on”, have you seen some of Stasi’s blathering about her mommy financed UCLA vacation?

Max has been out there for a while doin’ this stuff. Calling bankers ‘criminal’ wasn’t mainstream until recently. I think it’s more like the mainstream has caught up with Max and Alex Jones, not the other way around.

  227. The world is becoming too cynical and hard. These conditions don’t favor the emergence of that type. It’s less prevalent in the young, these days..

  228. @Mark Lytle

I beg to differ, Max takes smart-allecky stands at times on issues, but usually carefully shies away from “risky” or “unpopular” positions. He’s pretty main stream new media for the most part, and clearly that’s where his ambition seems to lie.

  229. @Mark Lytle

That was my take until I uncovered the Zak Goldsmith Rothschilds connections. They are either hypocrites or wannabe elitist hangers on.

    http://spinwatchwatch.wordpress.com/2010/04/28/hello-world/

    James Goldsmith

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Goldsmith

Goldsmith’s father Frank changed the family name from the German Goldschmidt to the English Goldsmith. The Goldschmidts, like their neighbors and relatives the Rothschilds, had been prosperous merchant bankers in Frankfurt, Germany since the 16th century. James’ grandfather Adolph came to London as a multi-millionaire in 1895.

What languish are you writing in? :)
    @Tomi
I don’t know about gold, maybe as one of the components, but to have it based on something would be nice. But what does is matter really, money to me is just liquidity. If you like gold buy it, you don’t like FIAT money, go buy a farm and some cows. Then go sell the milk. I don’t have time to change the system, I do my best to get the best opportunity from the system. FIAT works great for me.

  255. @Banking Boom

Consider if you will the following article, which discusses dividend yields and the boom in Return On Investment (raison d’etre for the stock market) and Return OF Your Investment through dividend yields:

    http://www.safehaven.com/article/17982/the-rare-buy-stocks-signal-that-aint

I’ll put this one as one of my absolute fave. Theoretically speaking, since stocks generally yield only ~1%, that means they have 90% to fall until they start yielding a return appropriate for risk/reward. Those that don’t yield anything, and never have, could go the way of the do-do.

This is a deflationary scenario that nobody is contemplating.

A policy decision that governments can make is to lower tax rates on dividend yields.

  256. @Tomi

“Could someone provide an explanation why China dumping all their U.S treasury bonds at once would be so catastrophic to USA’s economy?”

It is total nonsense, people are unwittingly falling for neo-liberal propaganda which will allow the right to loot our social security (without reimbursement or interest ). They also want to brow beat the government into not acting fiscally so that Americans can be outright starved in a neo-Stalinist fashion.

Bullshit. Another esclavagist Nazi like the fine folks at Wal Mart. I know well what kind of shit manages your friendly NON PAYING Switzerland resident. Cut the crap.

  267. @Marc Authier
It’s true, Ingvar Kamprad was a fan of Hitler in the 30′s, just like many in the middle and upper class. He comes from a part of Sweden where you have to have a trefty attitude, just like the Germans. As IKEA say it in a good way them self:
“This is our home – an area of southern Sweden known for its
poor soil, thrifty attitude and hard-working people. Stubborn,
even. Because you can’t farm thin soils the same way you can a
fertile field. You have to work harder, adapt your ideas and do
    things differently”
Sweden got the majority of its cultural exchange from Germany before WW2, the second languish in School was German. After WW2 the influences instead came from America and the second languish was English in school until today.
I.K. live in Switzerland and pays no income tax but the revenue from his creation feeds hundreds of thousands of people not only in Sweden but around the world, especially the district from where he, and I, come from have been flourishing becomes of men like him. I would not criticize a great man like that, that is what the world need more of, creators.

  268. Woul be nice to make a Pirate My Film about Ikea owner. Interesting swedish criminal. Swedes are such hypocrits. The place is full of Nazis sympathizers. Used to love Igmar Bergman and then I learned the fucker was in hitlerian youth.
Sweden and the Nazis still have a love affair with them. Like the Englinsh, the Americans and the Dutch. A lot of Jean-Marie Lepen’s in nordic and WASP countries. But they hide their game.

  269. Glenn Beck your fifteen minutes are almost up.

    http://www.onenewsnow.com/Perspectives/Default.aspx?id=1141100

“It’s taken us a long time to get here, in this plummet from Francis Schaeffer to Glenn Beck. In order to be this gullible, American Christians have had to endure years of vacuous talk about undefined “revival” and “turning America back to God” that was less about anything uniquely Christian than about, at best, a generically theistic civil religion and, at worst, some partisan political movement.

Leaders will always be tempted to bypass the problem behind the problems: captivity to sin, bondage to the accusations of the demonic powers, the sentence of death. That’s why so many of our Christian superstars smile at crowds of thousands, reassuring them that they don’t like to talk about sin. That’s why other Christian celebrities are seen to be courageous for fighting their culture wars, while they carefully leave out the sins most likely to be endemic to the people paying the bills in their movements.”

  273. @Bronxy
Ah IKEA. The swedish owner whichl lives in Switzerland, and doesn’t one red cent of income tax, was a fervent Adolf Hitler fan. Most certainly a member of Nazi Bilderberg also.

  274. Youri Carma – yeah that’s it – through out the last few years Peston and others on the BBC haven’t really done their job in pointing out the horrendous fraud. Maybe its a beginning.

The BBC need to realise that only if the people act en mass will we avert hell. I hope they have seen just how nasty the Conservatives are by targeting the poor. THEY need to move on that and not be passive.

THEY need to take VERY seriously influencing the public away from banks – its not a time for impartiality – ITS WAR without bombs. I hope Peston makes this clear to his line managers and senior editors of the BBC.

  275. USD is based on China and others buying the T-bills. No one buy, no value for the currency. FED can temporarily buy the bills them self but at that scale its going to result fast in hyper inflation.

You have to scan your groceries and then be your own cashier and pay with your credit card. One in 5 or 10 gets selected for a routine inspection so you don’t steal stuff. I refuse as long as i can, this is the kind of jobs that the stupid or uneducated need to have, and I don’t want to work for free servicing my self with no rebate all all.

A VERY IMPORTANT PIECE I think (h/t @flicks) cause it points out that the banksters contribute little to the “real” economy but are feeding of it!

“… a tiny fraction of this business is carried out on behalf of “non-financial” businesses – or what some would describe as “real” companies (you know the sort of thing I mean – businesses that make cars, or create music, or sell advertising, rather than trading in dematerialised, electronic money on a screen).

These non-financial companies were responsible for just 13% of forex transactions, their lowest proportion for 12 years. By contrast, “other” financial institutions – such as hedge funds, insurers, mutual funds and so on – contributed a record 48% of the business.

… the banking industry has become more than slightly detached from the “real” economy, that many of its activities are either pure speculation, or attempts to hedge speculation, or attempts to hedge the hedges.

you fears are well grounded….I always believe Darwin coupled with Hobbes gave us Herbert Spencer, and a strain of Social Darwinism that coupled with Calvinism explains a lot of the dark strains in my country (America) (if you doubt this listen to the rhetoric historically used by the right wing in America, the reflect both thought patterns) but couple Darwin with old J. J Roussea and you get the russian Peter Kroptkin…add Thurow or Emerson and one gets William James and John Dewey

as to the concerns that amougst some of the greenies lurk Eugenics I tend to agree up to a point, I think a lot of this is first world privledge making people indifferent to real suffering…old Upton Sinclaire wrote a damning book about how the modern meat packing system in Chicago was inhuman (The Jungle) upon release instant classic and forced radical changes…About Food Saftey, not Health and Saftey of the workers..the the immigrant population was losing limbs and dieing from neglect/abuse….but they were Estoninias, Lithiuanians and such….”what was important is that my steak is properly handled” same with a lot of the green movement, they are oblivious to the suffering of the fellow humans

Maybe so. But the social reflections of Darwin about the lack of natural selection amongst the poor in 19th century England was quite a fantastic tool to used by the predators. So Bronxy. How was your meeting at the KKk ?

  321. You keep mentioning that the ‘global warming deniers’ are being funded by well heeled groups. Keep in mind that the PTB always fund their own opposition in order to totally control the debate. They do so in order to have the side they want to lose to do things or make statements that will ultimately discredit them, put up strawmen arguments that can be easily dismissed, or to set up groups that will engage in ‘compromise’ that incrementally move the debate in a direction the PTB want. When true opposition arises they try to kill it by staging events – ie Oklahoma City – by having their bought and paid for judges and prosecutors levy false charges against people in order to discredit the movement, etc. These people are adept at managing people and situations and have been doing so for a very long time so it’s important to understand their techniques. There is no manmade global warming. It was warmer during the Middle Ages than it is today and the earth goes through cycles of heating and cooling due to the influence of the sun. This is not about the use of fossil fuels. It’s about the need of the bankers and their flunkies to control everything by taxing everyone into slavery. Who’s the main party behind this – the Rothschilds.

James Lee was probably an avid fan ot Ecoscience book publisher by the US government. By the way it’s an official policy by all US administration since 1972. Call it the neo-darwinian hidden agenda. Matthus reigns suprene in United Snakes of America. It’s not about developping the third world. It’s about killing it. Don’t here a lot of fuckin Greenies denouncing the eugenist agenda and the plan of sterilizing the poor or giving them massive doses of radiation and chemicals to give them cancer. Irak and Afghanistan are good examples of the experimentation.

  326. Global Warming Petition
We urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan in December, 1997, and any other similar proposals. The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind.

There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.

This petition has been signed by over 31,000 American scientists.

  329. That’s Malthus. A promoter of mass human sterilization for the poor. A little bit of mercury combined with squalene will do the trick. How about a little bit of depleted uranium ?

A fan of Ecoscience by the White House Amercan Neo-Nazi John Holdren, the science czar of Uncle Tom Obama and George W. Bust. The White House science czar shares the same beliefs as this fuckin crakpot. It’s always about exterminated, and attacking the sexual organs of poor people. Never the rich. USA is indeed a nazi country inspired neo-darwinian. human hating Nazi Malthus, the usual KKK USA scum. Darwin, Malthus, Galton, Rockerfeller, Hitler..
And it’s not because there’s a ‘black’ dude that the agenda is different. It’s not about giving food to the poor. It’s about to getting rid of them.

Kuddos for your work on exposing the NWO machine.

What confuses me is that another person has been doing the same thing with great clarity and facts/references and has meticulously exposed, by tracing each fiberon the web, to the person, ‘how’ the USA is being taken down.

Yet this very same person you call a clown.

  335. But the difference between Japan and the US collapse is: they are still making high-tech products, still spending more on R&D as a percentage.

We make bombs: they make pocket pen laptop devices.

I do not see our FRN’s staying strong like Japan’s currency: they save, they scrimp, they share.

We fight. We invade, We take.

God is on our side, y’know?

  338. Chinese ladies: farang giving $10/hr Chiangmai Thai massages, following mustache ride free.

  339. Aw man, I gotta listen to someone dis foot massages? STACY??? Okay, I guess I’ll give a listen…..

They are only 150 baht/one hour here, but no one gets just the foot massage…not when for another 150 you can get an hour Thai massage.

Like a visit to your favorite massage therapist and chiropractor rolled into one, for 300 baht, 2 hours. US $10.00

Nothing like a Thai massage given my a competent and skilled masseuse, I kid you not. Your body relaxes, your bones and joints pop and crack afterward for days realigning itself after muscles cramped tight relax….wonderful. Five bucks.

    Shangra-la

Something is key logging my strokes when I come to comments here…..

  340. Mullin is right. The FED is part of the Axis of Evil. Instead of dying in Afghanistan and Irak, the Pentagon generals should close the FED and arrest the terrorists working there.

Temperatures are rising in this part of the world where I’m living, I can agree with that. 15 years ago I could go ice-skating during 10 days in the winter, in the 2009-2010 winter (coldest winter in 14 years) I only could ice-skate for 3 days outdours.
Maybe it is a trend, it could also be a temporary uptick in temperatures.

Co2 is known to be a gas which can cause the ”greenhouse-effect” amongst other ‘greenhouse-gasses’ like water vapour. The rise in co2 could be caused by man, maybe some unknown forces are at work.

Let’s take the certain for the uncertain and take the scientists warnings about MMGW serious and go along their thinking that life on earth is on the brink of extinction if we continue business as usual.
Then a carbon tax doesn’t mean sense at all. It stimulates business as usual, is prone to fraud and keeps the power at the banksters, oil-companies.

If it is really that bad and life-threatening as scientist will like us to believe, why don’t we fully persue the path of free energy? And throw billions/trillions of funny money into the development of these techniques? The theories are there, the techniques are there, only lacking is full scale development. Look up names like Nicholas Tela, Stan Deyo, Peter Lindemann, Eric Dollard, John Hutchinson, Edward Gray, Stanley Meyer, John Searl, John Bedini,
Wilhelm Reich, Floyd Sweet, William Muller, Ron Cole, Kohei Minato, Brian DePalma, Tom Bearden, Henry Moray, Brian O’Leary, David Hamel, Bruce Perrault, Gabriel Kron, Harold Aspen, Joseph Newman, John Keely, Nathan Stubblefield, Victor Schauberger, Robert Adams, Hans Coler, Rick Friedrich, Paul Baumann, William Thomson (Lord Kelvin). Just to name a few. Or have a look at all those discussions about solutions on forums, like this one:

    http://www.energeticforum.com/renewable-energy/6270-ultimate-secret-free-energy-split-postive-negative.html

My question is to Max and Stacey:

Why don’t you try to discuss any solutions to GW and don’t even bother to mention the rapid development of free energy (even in this oppressed and money-lacking part of science) but instead try to scare the hell out of us with stories of how bad this MMGW is?

The way I see it is: If we don’t persue the path of free energy, all other solutions to GW but the crumbling of the economy and the power of Those in Control are fruitless.
