I have similar feelings; silver is a primitive money form but I hate naked short selling which is a form of counterfeiting.

I don’t think throwing silver into the ocean will bring down JPM any faster. It’s more prudent to have it around when the economy gets reset. You know for like friends and family or some charity.

There is no symbolism in waste. we have had too much of that already.

Gold might be measured by money but money is NOT measured by gold. As for trust, it would be better if we trusted in proper laws and liberty than a shiny metal. To the extent we don’t then gold is an idol.

I’m not a big fan of PM’s for money either. Especially silver. It’s getting too scarce to be practical as money in my opinion.

But a gold standard is better than the roughshod clusterfack we have going now. I’d rather have Ron Paul and a gold standard than a Jesus on fiat. No disrespect intended.

Goldschlager is a cinammon schnapps liqueur, and I think it tastes awful.

It’s strange that a supposed libertarian, RP, should conflate liberty with a shiny metal. Lack of imagination and/or Austrian indoctrination, I suppose.

As for government fiat, it should only be legal tender, in fact as well as law, for debts to government (taxes and fees) not privtae ones. That would blow away every supposed need for PMs for government money, if the stealth inflation tax was abolished.

A gold standard for the Federal Government is NOT Constitutional. The Constitution only mandates that only gold and silver may be made legal tender for the individual States. As for the Federal government, it may issue coin and REGULATE the value thereof by FIAT.

But in any event, the Constitution has been amended many times. I think it is necessary again.
