Starting at midnight tonight . . .

I’m giving away a 1 Oz. Silver Keiser every time the the number of new accounts number on PirateMyfilm.com crosses a new 50-threshold; starting at 1700. So at 1750, 1800, 1850, etc. whoever has opened that account gets a new SK. We’ll be watching for bots and other skullduggery and I reserve the right to void any claim if I think it’s bogus – without recourse. How long will this go on? Let’s see how 10 Oz’s works out. I also reserve the right to cancel this offer at any time for any reason.

    Great rules..Let me post an add on the media college in The Hague..

    I will do 20 three day productions if I can charge $250 USD (negotiable) each of them on varying topics related to climate, money and babes. That routine could be a draw..

    Lesson learned : If you want to challenge establishment be sure you can afford to.

    Radiation background measurement, taken over the course of 10 minutes was 78.7 CPM .

    Short video interviews about the project, the audience and the motivation for making the film. Where you plan to show it, etc.

    Also, ‘Pirate My Film Night’ – show a short Doco, beginning with Max and Stacy’s BBC films which are great, then have a discussion thread about subject, and how to go about making a film like this ie Behind the scenes, budgets, challenges, again so people can see where money is going. We used to do these for commercials so the clients could see where their money was being spent.
    Maybe do more behind the scenes of your current shows we have seen snippets of. I know its mostly green screen, but it is interesting for budding film makers.

    Anyway, just throwing it out there :)

    Like I said when you first released PMF you need to put a time limit on listings and when listing expires the person decides to go ahead or not with whatever was generated. This keeps listings clean and fresh.

    I bought shares in somthing when it first opened but was so long ago cant remeber even what it was, I certainly have no interest in it now.

    I bought shares in 2 projects because I took the time to figure out how the site works.
    It is not obvious. Anyone with a short attention span will give up before “getting” it.
    I bought shares in 2 projects that I feel are important to develop in order for the truth to get out.
    You need to explain the importance of getting these films made!
    Also make the site more “dumbed down” friendly

    I have to say I like what I “Think” is the concept of PMF, but I’ve struggled to get the hang of the site.
    There is not a clear message (see other comments on this site), how it works, what’s it about?
    I put $5 on a film, but not idea what that really means, who/how/when do I pay. what was the film really about anyway? Do I get a return? etc.

    The navigation on the site is bad, very bad.

    Giving away SKs is fine, but just encourages a bunch of pointless waffle.

    I think giving away silver is not so important. People wanna see what PMF really does, so finish 2 or 3 good projects with the asssistance of your pirate fund if necessary. When people see what they get for their contributions they surely are ready to reserve more shares.

    The site is too hard to figure out. It might help if you made it clear to people exactly what they are doing on PMF. Is it an investment or a donation? Both are good, but it’s better to know.

    Do a kind of bitcoin type thing. Have people generate something… Bitcoin for silver that drives traffic and web presence to PMF. Don’t have a clue what that could be. Something not invited yet.

    One day it will catch on… no doubt. Not enough people understand yet that the content that they are presented through MSM is to dumb them down. And a lot of people are lazy consumers, not critical. When they understand that it is all big brother facade, they all have a story to tell, that people want to see, and they will come through platforms like yours. Youtube is an incubator, people are getting more and more skilled in the small stuff.

    @Max: LOVE your many different videos – RT, OTE, etc. etc. – but your “Pirate My Film” stuff IS CONFUSING!

    #1. put up a list of links for COMPLETED “PMF” videos!
    #2. list up-coming productions, and SIMPLIFY how much is needed to produce them.

    #3. My offer still stands, to donate 50 silver ounces (that would be about $2,000 at today’s rates) to produce a video/film of one of those “IRISH WAKES” where you (or a talented local Irish actor) INTERVIEWS folks at one of those “Irish Wakes” for someone who must FLEE their homeland (Ireland) or face DEBTOR’s PRISON; and ask the other guests how they feel about millionaire bankers (and the billionaires behind them) getting “BONUSES” and ARTIFICIALLY PUMPED UP stock prices (= portfolio ‘wealth’)… solely from TAXPAYER FUNDED “bailouts” !!

    Dark Markets – why dont you do it yourself its not difficult if you have the funds and spend a bit of time to learn how to use a camera, steadi-cam and editing software.

    When I paint and do photography I dont need to ask anyone or rely on anything I just do it and if I dont have the cost sorted I dont do it .

    The silver futerist guy is a good example of making something from almost nothing – just personality and you-tube.

    The guy who really impressed me is Chris on you-tube – very switched on to making quality visual and sound reports from little funds.

    Many good ideas already proffered.

    Variety is the spice of life. I like your financial information (RT, OTE, and the blog are great) because it helps me understand my financial world with resource and information (along with some exciting circus material). However, my life isn’t only finance and a silver coin, though really cool, doesn’t really catch my interest (maybe I’m just too old and jaded for that).

    Enable people to propose articles or stories they would be interested. Use these as a pool of ideas that quasi-professional paid through donation ‘directors’ can pick up on and decide to produce, based on audience participation and desire rather than a predisposition dictated by a director. This is why first person games are engaging and actors must be successful before being funded to do their own projects (imo). The people fantasize that the game is a reflection/extension of their own lives. The excitement comes with being interactive/responsive to ‘my’ wishes rather than someone elses scripted dictates.

    It would be good to highlight good successes too. kathleen, Dark Markets, Mini US, and others make good points outside this.

    I never click on the PMF posts. I can’t seem to get any information except the title of a film that hasn’t been made yet and a request for investment. I guess it’s unreasonable to expect a trailer but maybe other video content related to the premise, producer interviews, PowerPoint presentations, etc.

    1) Create a teaser or a short! It’s easier to sell something if you can better define or show what it is.
    2) Offer credits on the tailend of the production when it’s complete – I’ve always wanted to be in the credits of a film – what the hell is a “keygrip”? List off the SLA members that helped make the film a reality at the end of the film in the credits!

    This is my feeling exactly. Been there a few times trying to figure it out but never did.

    Max, may I suggest you need to broaden this out?

    How about a viral style competition inviting people to submit pics of themselves dressed as pirates holding the PMF logo upside, say, 10 Parliament Street, the White House, Lloyd Blankfein’s face, the Queen or Simon Cowell’s arse, etc. – basically, the sort of places where either decorum’s usually expected, access is difficult, or there’s a hint of edge, low key danger, or shock value, (not to mention possibility of publicity factor).

    There’d be rounds where the most daring or effective pic wins amount x, and a larger prize for the ultimate winner of the final.

    The sort of guys you’d be aiming at are, say, British Art students who do crazy stuff at the drop of a hat, many of whom will instantly connect with your outlook as Buccaneer-cum-Renegade versus THE MAN/bringer-down-of-the-establishment should they presently be unaware of you, and even potential subscribers or contributors to the site and its projects.

    More importantly, though, if it catches on PMF’ll be brought to the attention of a much wider audience, many of whom’re bound to investigate further,if not join up, and at the very least become aware of you and the cause of your general all round insanity.

    I’ve been to the PrivateMyFilm site a couple of times – could not find any info on what it’s about – no FAQ’s, no introduction, no explanation what so ever – so, without some effort on the part of whomever is designing and maintaining this site, to explain what it’s about, I’m pretty sure you will continue to be bored…Max.

    Max, one thing I’m struck by every time I visit PMF’s how static and wordy it is, given we live in the age of YouTube, so why not put in brief pitch videos allowing the film makers’ – or maybe some suitably photogenic nubile perhaps blonde representative! – to make their pitches personally. Afterall, these guys’re film makers, and one of the sources of yours and Tracy’s success is we have a sense of you not just as documentary makers but as real people.

    Also, ‘re you go’n'o just leave it as films or’re you go’n'o incorporate other media such as book publishing, putting on art or fashion shows, music release or promotion, etc.? Afterall, when you think of the Punk Rock explosion, at the time it was the very quintessence of revolution and all round general hostility to the establishment, as was the Fauvist Art Movement, and the British 1950s literary phenomenon the Angry Young Men.

    You might hold a contest amongst student film makers the winner of which would get full financing courtesy PMF. This would be like putting up seed money. If PMF kicks in say $1000 or $5000 other PMF investors might also add in.

    I tried 2x to register – did not work. Gave up. Also I could not get how I was going to make money? What’s the return? Where’s distribution/exhibition revenue coming from? Online? Cinema? DVD?

    Agree with others that trailers etc would be good. User interface poor and very buggy. Here’s your man to fix that. And he’s film school graduate from RCA London.

    this needs a little Hollywood type PR/Project with a couple of full time staff (one to manage the web one to schmoooze film makers) and or a hobby enthusiast with the time and dedication – it also needs a mission statement.
