Today in Latvia there is a bank run

Max,

I enjoy watching your show each week. Thanks for all the work you and Stacy do.

I was in Latvia a couple weeks ago when Krajbanka collapsed. Today in Latvia there is a run on all the Swedish banks there. The problems started over rumors of bank insolvency that developed over the weekend.

I hope you can find something interesting in all of this to share with the people. Keep up the great work!

Regards,

Doug

  1. Meanwhile, everyone in Lithuania didn’t get the tweet’s twit (or vice versa), so no one even cared, despite the state takeover of Snoras (owned krajbank) a couple of weeks ago.

You figure they’d know first there, anyways. The Snoras thing leaked a few days early there.

Yes, while in the queue you show ‘em a Silver Keiser and explain about the shenanigans going on since whatever.
I mean, the crooked banksters and stuff. Fed, ECB, GS, etc, etc.

To be an hour too late for a line up just like these ones.

  4. Yossarian,
Dramatised Hollywood fighting and bad Hollywood fighting sound effects follow a bank run in your neck of the woods?

  8. You sure that’s a bank run? In New Zealand that’s how the bank looks on dole day.

Jelgava is excited about the internet rumors passed on “Swedbank”, and on Sunday evening were observed in lines at the ATMs of all banks where you can withdraw money.

  12. Nice happenstance these twitter – rumours getting wild there since friday. Svedish bankin crisis, anyone? Just to let the euromembers know what happens if you want to play with your own chips..

  13. Swedbank will collapse… but not yet. It was closer to collapse in the beginning of 2009 than it is now. With that said things can change within a couple of days so people should indeed be wary and be on their guard…
