Ron Paul Highlights in South Carolina Debate – 1/16/2012
http://youtu.be/_9TplOWgQZI
It’s not an ‘intergenerational’ war – it’s a war between rich and poor. There are millions of baby-boomers scraping by on low wages to fund inflated mortgages and credit cards which funnel interest payments back to the new rentier class.
It’s the baby-boomers who’ve experienced 30 years of stagnating wages as profits have swollen at the top.
To pretend it is ‘intergenerational’ distracts focus from the real issue – and cause of thge credit boom- which is the rise in INEQUALITY between classes, not ages.
The US blockade won’t really work because lots of Asian countries have been buying Iranian oil for years and their refineries and power stations were designed to use it. They can cut down on it but they still need some to blend. Countries that use a lot of heavy bunker oil which is diesel D1 will also lose out from an embargo (countries like Greece). Even Israel sneakily buys Iranian oil through the Rotterdam spot market because their refineries were built for Iranian oil courtesy of the erstwhile puppet dictator the Shah of Iran.
Of course a big part of the reason for the US threats and bluster is that Iran is selling it’s oil outside of US Dollars. They can do commodity swaps so they send oil to somewhere like India and then take back refined products as part payment.
When you have stuffed the world with massive quantities of Dollars you have to have a dollar trade to soak it up and oil is perfect as long as the oil trade is done in Dollars. The problem now is that too many nations are getting out. Japan and China now trade together with currency swaps. Russia and china trade oil with currency swaps. India does currency swaps for gas and oil from Iran. Last week Russia announced that it will trade with Iran with currency swaps.
They have to keep the oil prices high to make the Dollars useful but the west is pretty much in Austerity driven recession and high energy prices will cause a depression at which point the oil price will correct sharply downwards. (Unless the US can threaten wars to disrupt supplies). The you have the SCO and the solvent parts of the world dealing in their own currencies and trade barter and a bankrupt no growth west drowning in reams of Dollars.
The poorer the west becomes, the more of their income gets taken up by Food and energy. Both of these inflate with a high oil price. This chokes of industrial output and people cut down on energy. This causes a lake of refined products which backstops the crude oil. The price crashes when refiners runs out of storage. (we are nearly there now).
Oil companies make big profits when the oil price is high but this is dependant on the demand for the refined products not falling off. The US and Europe have a gasoline drop off at least 15%. (You can check this by asking motoring associations). Trucking is also down because of a drop off for non consumables and factories cutting production. Heating oil is backing up along with natural gas in part due to a so-far mild winter and the fact that closed factories & offices, foreclosed homes. Etc. Do not get heated.
Meanwhile, the US is trying to stop the world selling refined products to Iran and has demanded that Africa ends all fuel subsidies. Refiners can’t just keep buying oil at $100 a barrel when they can’t sell their finished products.
As M&S correctly term it. The economics of suicide bankers You blow yourself up in the hope that you can take some bystanders with you.
”We’re gonna commit suicide! Come on, China, join us , jump with us!”
”Erm, no.”

Charles Wheeler, Good point. That’s what I was thinking. It smacks of ageism which is divisive. The older people are going to get hit just as much as the younger people.
The fact is that many people both young and old are waking up and smelling the coffee. The majority are still sleep walking.
If you look at the complaints about the government about half accuse it of Fascism and the other half see it as communism. They don’t realise that with extremists, there is no left and right. We have already had both fascism and communism as totalitarian test runs in the 20th Century. Politics are a means and not an end. Of course they combine reactionary communists with reactionary fascists.
The Ron Paul libertarianism sounds out of date but that’s because it’s been a long time since it’s been applied. I see Ron Paul as spreading an idea. He’s the only candidate with real change against the back drop of an incumbent president who promised change and then bait and switched to remaining the same. Unsurprisingly, lots of people who are wondering what happened to the promised change that Obama lied about and seeing real change in the Ron Paul campaign.
Do you realize that Baby Boomers are not age 49 to 99? Do you know the difference between the Tyktovs, Baby Boomers and Mini Boomers?
I looked around in 2005 and wondered where all the young people were? I looked over at another gray haired woman and asked if she thought we’d be doing the same thing 40 years later?
Would it be acceptable for me to use the intergenerational slur that they were too busy partying on their student loan money in Cancun to worry about the consequences of an unjust war?
Firing up an intergenerational war only serves the power structure of the 1%. They love it. What would be more helpful is to find the points of intersection between the generations.
@Vonda, Yes, the BDI is very hard to manipulate with dry raw goods is this sort of free fall the oil price should have tanked with it. The connection is that all the dry raw goods on the BDI use large amounts of energy to process into finished products. Also, It takes millions of tons of bunker oil to send the ships all over the world and as you can see they are going pretty much nowhere.
Mr. Daisey and the Apple Factory, both interviews are really something to listen to. Mike Daisey tells a great story. (On NPR);

That was such a great KR (237) I’m listening to it again. Awesome . Thank You.
This boomer vs post boomer thing is bogus. There were plenty of boomers that saw this coming and tried to take appropriated action. They/we were too few and unable to stop it. The majority of boomers and post boomers are semi conscious droids. To expect them to be anything else is asking too much, and to think you aren’t one yourself is arrogance.
Humans respond to their environment. If that environment full of crap food, cheap widgets and easy credit most people will suck it up.

Marx said Religion was the opiate of the masses but America has taken that too a new level. Religion in America is now the Meth Amphetamine of the masses.
Every election cycle in the US the world is exposed to this religious bampootery, and every time America is shown for what it is.
How can a modern western country have close to a third of its voter base completely lost to a kind of Nationalist Religious psychosis.
The 1st amendment prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press,…
What a pathetic sad joke. How can those two things possibly sit together. They cancel each other out.
Freedom of speech is not a right to pontificate about your chosen brand of Froot Loopism.
Using behaviour economics is something that will work well with those 33 % of American loonies.
As for the Baby Boomers I totally agree, If they think I’m going to pay for them to drive around in circles in a winnebago until they drop dead, they are totally wrong.
Its time to strip their assets and take them back. We now have the numbers, and we can use better more nimble business models to drive them into Bankruptcy and buy up their assets for pennies on the dollar.
I cant wait to see their rental properties squatted, and their over leveraged properties liquidated.
Who cares about SOPA and PIPA. If the Americans want to censor themselves, let them. They talk too much and do too much.

China is winning the game of “Barbarian Management”, in the best convoluted Confucian, Sun Tzu-ian (verbal) traditions.
China signed a deal with Turkmenistan, to buy the gas that the United states wanted for ENRON, and TAPI and Dick Chenny’s Dahol power plant.
Three years after that deal was signed, China had constructed the longest pipeline in the world.
This year Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan will open up the second line.

China is probably the only big power today among the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council that can claim a strong partnership with Syria and Iran on the one hand and Saudi Arabia and Qatar on the other.
China is managing this political and diplomatic feat with the least wastage of resources and eschewing any flamboyant acts or rhetoric.
Against the “grim political and economic backdrop of the international landscape” today – with the United States in decline and Europe in crisis – China has a particularly useful window of opportunity to present itself as the ideal partner for the Middle East in the “common task of warding off the negative impact of the global economic malaise” so that the two sides can take “full advantage of their respective strengths and jointly strive for common development” – as Xinhua news agency described the “great significance” of Wen’s regional tour.
The mutually agreed target for China’s trade with Arab countries by 2015 is $200 billion. By the end of 2011, however, it had already reached $190 billion.
King Abdullah said meaningfully, “It is the objective of Saudi Arabia’s foreign policy to maintain regional peace and stability.”
The king added: “Saudi Arabia and China enjoy a high level of mutual trust and share similar views on many issues. The Saudi side wishes to step up consultation and coordination with China.”
In sum, Wen’s tour underscores that China considers itself a “stakeholder” in the Persian Gulf. What cannot escape attention is also that China is coming to terms with the ascendancy of political Islam in the Middle East. A commentary in the People’s Daily last week concluded:
It [the Arab Spring] has changed the main color of the Arab political situation and formed a splendid “green” scene which worries or even scares the West. In fact, that is not a “backward” [retrogressive development] in the Arab’s modernization and secularization course, but a retraction from the long-term excessive secularization and secularization of the regimes overthrown or a return to the traditional culture. It is also the common aspiration of the people … Of course, the world should have a wider and more comprehensive mind to give best wishes to these countries. After all, it is the Arab people’s own choice.
The two countries also signed a nuclear cooperation agreement during Wen’s visit. Saudi Arabia plans to build 16 nuclear power reactors by 2030 and China has ambitions to emerge as an exporter of nuclear power plants.
Wen witnessed in Saudi Arabia the signing of a contract between China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec) and Saudi Aramco to build an $8.5 billion refinery with 400,000 barrel-a-day capacity in Yanbu on the Red Sea coast by 2014, with the two sides holding 35.5%-62.5% stakes respectively.

Wanted to add this as well, n -hexane is used in the cleaning of the units, it evaporates quickly with no residue, speeding production time, but prolonged, concentrated inhalation obviously has some drawbacks…

I, personally, would not mind having a job in a factory manufacturing electronics, fairly handy with a soldering iron, but not knowing what the management is using to “speed things along” keeps me well away from such places or predicaments.
This is the battle and the question that modern society needs to address right now, along with a few dozen more, but, what kind of world will the children have tomorrow, if we destroy the one we’re in today? The younger generation has that figured out. That is why this grand shift is happening. Older, bumbling fools spilling toxic chemicals and oil all over the place, creating monetary gain by creating chaos and finding new ways to bilk an unknowing public into “paying” for it when the money never gets there, that is why the dollar is losing “credibility”. The money from caring individuals never makes it to the intended target. That is why there is a “market disfunction”.

”Who cares about SOPA and PIPA. If the Americans want to censor themselves, let them. They talk too much and do too much.”
The problem with SOPA/PIPA is that it could censor (shut down completely) every site on the planet under the disguise of ”copyright protection”. That is why those two laws are bad (not to mention fascist) and we must do everything possible to prevent them from ever being passed in CONgress.

We have seen similar laws to SOPA PIPA before. They are unworkable. THe commonwealth is underpinned by Libel laws. SOPA and PIPA will have no effect.

Although crticizing Putin or Russia on RT is probably taboo, the Anglo/American propaganda press cartel does a great job of distorting the picture.
No politician is a saint, however the level of corruption in the Medvedev/Putin govts. are infitessimally small in comparison with the level of corruption in the US govt. system. The amount of money that was stolen from the public (and continues to be stolen) in the US druing the TBTF bailouts and Fed giveaways dwarfs any corruption in other countries. The USA is #1 in corruption, ; #1 in world prison population; #1 in BigPharma psychotropic drug consumption etc. #1 military imperial terrorist.
Now add NDAA, PIPA, SOPA, the propaganda media cartel and we have a society that is more controlled than the Soviet Union ever was. The US spares no expense in the military/security/propaganda/prison state. It has the most sophisticated and expensive system of repression and psychological conditioning ever developed.
For the US to criticize any other country for lack of democracy, lack of rule of law, and lack of “free markets” is the ultimate in hypocrisy, arrogance and imperial hubris.
The US can really boast that their corruption, tyranny and propaganda are more expensive and “sophisticated” than other countries’ tyranny corruption and propaganda
Max lost a twitter follower recently when he blocked me. Not sure why he did that, but my next move was to unfollow his girlfriend Stacy. I think he was mad when I told him he couldn’t hide his web site from the global government. He must have disagreed with me. At any rate, I still watch the show and steal his links for my tweets, but I don’t support the show or turn anyone on to it anymore. Seems too early in a D-grade internet celebrity career to start blocking normal everyday followers for making funny comments, but who am I to judge?
Thank you Tsuki, well said. I am tired of being on the front line for the accusations that the older generation has the Winnebagos and second homes . Sure, some people are doing well, but the majority of folks of my age are struggling along the same as I am. I worked until I was seventy and am now living ‘on the government tit’ as I have so often heard it expressed, on the munificent sum of $1,700 a month. .. that’s after twenty years of teaching in Maine. I get tired of hearing about the extravagant pensions and the extravagant lives people of my age supposedly live. Perhaps some do, but not all. I am out looking for work again just to keep afloat – and that’s for day to day livingl I have no debt. Give us a break will ya.
sigh…………. racism in america is imposed from the top down by continuing to rub salt in the wound created by the english trading company’s use of slave labor in america the worst part is that in the deep south most of all the bulk of the white population as well as the black went there as slaves and racisim has always been used to control both groups how many more black children are now learning to hate “whitey” and become exactly what whites expect to see? i think i need to puke. soft slavery = giving one group better treatment in order to seperate them from the other and holding those privlages as hostage to there “good” behavior. the resentment called “racisim in america” has its roots in that imposed structure. the founders may not have directly adressed slavery but the number of people keeping slaves droped to 15% by no later than 1800 and those were on plantations suplying international trade=foxcon. the drop and the abolition movement had more to do with the selling of women , than it did with selling laborers. historians were too squimish to properly record how bad it was geting but there were reports of girls from new york slums (white english speaking girls) showing up in brothels in the “orient” this on top of the wives noticing there husbands absences and the lightening of the skin in black slaves (not noticeable on the debt slaves from the english “prison and work house” system) the civil war its self resulted from the freed southern population over producing cotten and swamping the market in cloth fibers. bankers would have lost money as plantations in america and wool producers in england had there markets swamped in this crowded trade.

London Trader – Staggering Gold Demand Creating Shortages
“With many global investors still concerned about the price of gold and silver, today King World News interviewed the “London Trader” to get his take on these markets. The source stated, “We’ve still got a very, very compressed spring because the shorts are still trying to defend their positions, their naked short positions in both the gold and silver markets. As an example, in the silver market, you saw that type of activity in the silver ETF (SLV). Shorts borrowed another 3 million ounces to cover immediate delivery concerns. There are 25 million ounces now borrowed from SLV. It is getting worse and worse for them.”

Neoclassical economics is merely an ideology not based on science, it is used to “justify” exploiting folks and misappropriating capital. Neoclassical economics is more of a political ideology than an objective fielf of study.

I personally cant wait for the pious fraud bigots to pay $10+ per gallon. The ones who live in the unsustainable outer suburbs will hit hard by wallet blow-back. Not even Tim Tebow can save them.

Steve Keen says that neoclassical economists claim to follow JM Keynes, however they ignore much of what Keynes claimed. I agree with Keen. Keynes was an ardent critic of neoclassical eocnomic theory. The irony is that the current crop of neoclassical group-thinkers claim to be new “Keyenesians” yet IGNORE most of what Keynes advocated.

These two topics intertwine.
The door to the ponzi scam was open to that generation, the Real estate ponzi scam. The pension ponzi scam.
Just because some members of the generation failed to get in on the scam and screw the next generation and the next et al, does not mean it did not happen.
The preservation of this ponzi scam is the main focus of this voting block in the west.
As @ evolutis says ‘Chose wisely’
Well it turns out that it is this generations linear thinking that is an impediment to this.
Things like the Protestant work ethic and all that goes with it, a stupid self defeating philosophy that has for the large part, got us in this race to the bottom.
So to explain how these things work we need a hook. A cause and effect.
eg. The Majority of Baby Boomers aspired to the same “American Dream” because they had the same propaganda.
What was this dream and how did it effect the generations following.
The one thing that sickens me is that Boomers always assume that these Gen X& Y people have chosen to nt buy a house and go for long leases, they have chosen to skill up and they may have two three or more different jobs during a life time. They Get bored with their career and decide to do something else.
Utter B.S. They knew before they left school the teachers were lying, they would never be able to afford a house, unless mummy and daddy underrit the loan, they knew that no job would last a life time with a gold watch and pension at the end. Some asset striping bank would see to that.
So everything they were taught in school about the “real world” turned out to be lies lies lies.
Its not our parents fault? Ofcourse, how could they have seen this coming, They should have packaged the lies up into a CDS and sold it to Iran or some such country.
Baby Boomer Motto; Its always some else’s fault, so someone else must pay.

Zbigniew Brzezinski: ” Because a war with Iran would be a messy business indeed in the entire region. With a variety of local consequences and global economic consequences. Me think your giving this younger generation to much credit for being plugged in. They are plugged in, but not necessarily to the politics of the economy. My son is a sophomore in college which I visit often. I’ve hung out in the dorm rooms, and off campus flats. Have read the posts above the urinals. Chatted with room mates and friends. It’s my impression very few get whats going on, specially with concerns over the fed. Their main staple for info is the Daily Show. In fact last year Thomas Friedman was visiting and there was a lot of buzz about that. The first though that popped up in my head was “Bell Tower” after hearing this. I find it amazing the number if students how are still majoring in sports medicine or business management. My thinking is, if it’s not a degree in engineering, where you actually build and create, then you are wasting money. So maybe this 47% of the youth who are supporting RP are those who are out of college and/or work and have the time and interest to pull back the curtain to take a look.

So, “Baby Boomers” are for war, eh? Hahaha, okay, if you say so…. a45 year old is not a Baby Boomer, btw. How many 45 year olds supported Iraq occupation, does that mean their entire generation did too?
Odd thing: I thought it was us Boomer hippies that marched against the Vietnam War, and ended it. And took bullets for our efforts (“Four dead in Ohio, four dead in Ohio……they’re cutting us down…”)…and a 76 year old choking on their own vomit is NOT “another Baby Boomer” story Miss Sherbert.
The oldest Baby Boomer (born 1946) is how old? Surely a financial blog can do that math…borrow Maxwell’s calculator.
And it was a recently lost Baby Boomer that created the mainstreaming of the internet: Steve Jobs. Imagine if Jobs and Woz hadn’t played around in the garage while tripping on acid…and software for Gates to steal….that Woz wanted to give away for free….think the internet would be where it is today?
Not to mention, Sherbert, you stated EXACTLY what us baby Boomers stated back in the early 80′s (“they are creating a huge debt that won’t manifest itself until Reagan is dead!”: my exact letter to the editor of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat) when Reagan gave S.S. benefits hikes to older (non-baby Boomers) retirees that had NEVER PAID into the system anywhere near what they were receiving, to garner votes…that was the so-called “Greatest Generation.” Not Baby Boomers. We were the payers, not the receivers… Most of us still are…..that is OUR money, and our employeer’s cash contributions….belongs to no one else.
It was us Baby Boomers that created the huge SURPLUS that has S.S. SOLVENT from the huge quadrupling of FICA payments Reagan instituted in the early 80′s, until 2042. When virtually all of us Baby Boomers will be pushing up daisies.
Wasn’t these X-Boxers playing war videos that did it. You’ll have to excuse us if we didn’t stay out marching against the machine….we had children to raise, so they could lay all the woes on us when they had to put down the joy stick control and find a J O B.
So c’mon, enough….Baby Boomers do NOT support war. Some do, did, most didn’t, don’t.
In fact 60%+ of ALL adult Americans in 2003 were OPPOSED to invading Iraq unless the UN sanctioned it, which they did not, hence Bush’s “coalition of the willing” (to be bribed, cajoled and threatened) PR stunt to legitimize his war crimes. Now THERE is a Baby Boomer needing hanging…specifically speaking.
Generalizing, Sherbert, tsk tsk tsk, you know better…..how about a chart breaking down FICA contributions by generations? How about just stating debt is not beneficial, nor bankster Fraud rewarded by criminal cohorts in the regulatory agencies, regardless of generation?
This is too close to hearing “Greeks spend too much” while the truth is Goldman Sachs looted them, and enslaved them. The truth is: there was plenty, until Fraud came to town…and stayed. And that knows no generational limits.
Truth is, Gore won. Truth is, so did Kerry. So can any generation be blamed? Truth is, the Vote is rigged. Hence Obama the CIA plant running against the chosen losers…
Votes don’t count, it is who counts the votes that matter: there is an excellent article at a blog called maxkeiser talking about how an international corporation just gained control of the vote so it can no longer be verified locally…suggest it be read…..
Marc Faber – Fox Business News – 17 January 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bq3_pt6ndik
@noone: what percentage of the boomers worldwide is, as we speak, actively trying to CHANGE the current system into something better or even setting up a new one? Them being the ones who control the current system?
Exactly.
You are totally right about ‘The Greatest Gen.’ though.
ps. the boomers didn’t start resisting the War against the people of Viet Nam until going to college wasn’t enough anymore to be excused from the draft.
Baby Boomers want war, or Israel? Tell me this destruction of Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, now Syria and threatening Iran isn’t based from Tel Aviv…. it’s a Zionist’s wetdream.
Hell, if Baby Boomers wanted a war….we’d invade Yucatan and take over the hotels and beaches….damn sure wouldn’t pick Afghanistan or Pakistan.
Is Dick “49 standing ovations at AIPAC the week he shot a hunting buddy in the face” Cheney a Baby Boomer? No.
Is Nancy “voted for every war expense Bush desired” Pelosi a Baby Boomer? No.
Diane Feinstein? No. Barbara Boxer? No. Both big occupation supporters.
John McCain? No. Richard Perle? No. Paul Wolfowitz? No. Carl Levin? No.
Kind of disappointed to hear it stated that it is us “Baby Boomers” that desire war…while driving our SUV’s. Never even been in one. Now, if a candidate had promised free video games instead of ponies…would they get run over by Baby Boomers….or their kids and grandkids?
Didn’t know we were all Israeli Likud members. Didn’t know we were all Neocons. Didn’t know we are all card-carrying AIPAC extremists…the former Zionist Organization of America…
Without looking…I’d bet at least 50% of the congress that voted for Afghanistan and Iraq invasion and occupation since 2001 were older than Baby Boomers. Prove me wrong.
And WHY did they do it? Because they thought THEY WOULD BE DEAD before the real shtf. However, we can give them an assist in that regard…rope, tree: neck.
@ Boomers
A 2010 survey found that the average age of the Fox News viewer is 65.
So on with the revolution. But first a little snooze in front of the television.
From Crook on Bloomberg: “Once money is entirely in the form of electronic balances, Buiter argues, there would be no reason for zero (interest rates) to bind the central bank — that is, making lenders pay interest to borrowers — in advanced economies the disappearance of physical money would be a nuisance mainly for criminals, who need it for purposes of anonymity”. Urrrrg, isn’t there something NEOFUEDAL here where a cash/identity-illegitimate underclass is being proposed? I don’t get it. New brain please. “Advanced economies” IS there such a thing, sounds rather homogenisingly simplistic.

[@noone: what percentage of the boomers worldwide is, as we speak, actively trying to CHANGE the current system into something better or even setting up a new one? Them being the ones who control the current system?]
I have no idea what percentage “worldwide”, do you? In fact, it is only in America where Baby Boomers are so labeled: because, you see, we WON the war, do try to get a clue. And since when did Baby Boomers “control the current system”? Bwahahahaha, okay, SURE we do.
[Exactly.] No, not even close. I already made a list above (or below) of those to blame for the invasions and occupations, mostly NON-Baby Boomers: prove me wrong.
[You are totally right about ‘The Greatest Gen.’ though.] I blamed Reagan for pandering to them, I did not place blame on them.
[ps. the boomers didn’t start resisting the War against the people of Viet Nam until going to college wasn’t enough anymore to be excused from the draft.]
Sadly mistaken there bubba: I was only 17 when the war ended..in 1973, and I am a Middle Boomer, dead smack middle, 1955, do try to keep up…unless you are stating those Boomers born in 1964 were worried to death about Vietnam service…when they were eight years old and had used up their college exemptions….in your dreams.
FACT IS: MANY protesters had ALREADY SERVED, many of those Boomers protesting knew of a friend or relative crippled or killed in Vietnam, while no one in government could give us a straight, logically explanation WHY WE WERE THERE.
Now you’ve been schooled, do try to let it sink in: generalizing will make you look as foolish as you did here.
You’ll note: I do not criticize any generation, nor praise it. I SPECIFICALLY NAME THE PERPS and THEIR CRIMES. I SPECIFICALLY GIVE PRAISE WHERE DUE.
You’ll do well, and make allies, if you listen closely.
You’ll make enemies you do not need by placing blame where inappropriate.

Nice try.
Baby Boomers are aged 49-67.
I do believe that means the vast majority of us Baby Boomers are too intelligent to watch Fox News. Or generalize and look foolish doing so. I’d make a WAG that an average of 65 means a LOT above 65……non-Baby Boomers. And a lot below 65….down to 18 years old.
The “average” Al….what does that mean????
Means nothing, there are lies, damn lies, and statistics.
@ noone
“Or generalize and look foolish doing so. ”
A study of Deductive reasoning/logic will help you too understand this , remember mathematics is about discovering the correct solution to a problem, that includeds statistics.
We can divide this into two simple kinds: analogy and generalisation. Yes, all the reasoning that extends our knowledge into the unknown or into the future is either generalisation or analogy (although in truth, is often a complex combination of both.
Consider a complex question such as `Will the Chinese economy recover? How about the likelihood of intelligent life elsewhere in the universe? We could generalise from the several disparate and independently evolved intelligences on earth (octopuses, crows, humans) that a certain level of development is indeed likely. The periodic table of the elements, so ingrained into the consciousness of many school students, is a triumph of analogy and generalisation. Elements in the same column are analogous to each other (with similar properties for similar reasons) while generalisations across rows and down columns allowed for the placement of gaps which were eventually filled in elegant and inevitable sequence of future discoveries. Now, the characteristics of what makes a good analogy or generalisation are pretty clear and can be explicitly taught. Also, within the analysis of an analogy we see the evaluative skills of comparing and contrasting; in generalisation we see contextual considerations, the list of these subset skills is long and valuable.

@noone: What is a bubba?
And why do we speak about ‘generations’? We generalize about generations to make conversation more easy, to let it take off quicker.
If you think that I think that everybody of one generation is at fault, then you are the one who is stupid. Then you simplify me.
Why are the things the way they are? Because the masses support with their taxmoney, with their labour. As a generation the boomers have done this. Few stepped out. A minority DID something against the wars against the people of Iraq. Saying that you are against is not the same as doing something.
Most decissionmakers today are boomers, so yeah, they control this shit. But each and every day they (if I may) give it away to the 1% of the 1%. Free will in action, which makes those individuals complicit.
Did you pay your tax today?
But again, what is a ‘bubba’? Is it americain namecalling? How nice. Have we met?

Male sheep or goats are pretty hard to anesthetize that way because the have an extra thick skull. You better cut the throat or stick a knife into the neck , if you don´t have a special machine. This is of course no excuse for that guy, slaughtering animals is a serious matter and only people should be allowed to do it who know what they are doing.

You know I liked that you are bringing up the real issues – Max and Stacey -way to go!! Yes, the baby boomers, these old fart wanna save the planet and give peace a chance are a bunch of posers- it was all just an excuse to do drugs and get some ass!! I live in the subburbs of Portland, Oregon – we are doing a 1 car reduced lifestyle type of thing and are by no means the only ones trying this thing but we are far from the majority. I can count on my one hand the number of people who I know that embrace a lifestyle that is in anyway sustainable especially in asspects to do with debt and money!! Most everyone here has a mcmansion, 2 to 3 cars, and when I go to the grocery store with my backpack and bike they are loading up tons of packaged goods to take home!! Not a lot of young people out here either – except with the surly teenagers with mom and daddies car – had a trio of them yell at me to get a car the other day when biking to do errands!! They don’t have a clue! Not all the hippies were sellouts, some actually are trying to do as I am doing or are even doing better – I always say that those who scoff at living sustainably are those who will be the ones lining up to be taken care of by the ones who embraced a simplier way of living – heck the writing is on the wall. When you can’t afford to use that suv anymore and have to ride your bike to work or to the local market I will be there to fix your flat, give you a hand with that “pesky bike”, or just some encouragement to keep on living simply – that is just who I am and who these “young” people are!! It seems to me that Ron Paul is like a really cool wise grandfather and mentor – It is wise that the younger generation sees the truth in what he is telling – He will have my vote and I am 45 this year!! Keep up the great work Max and Stacey and I hope that sopa bill dies a death of deservatude!!

Good job with the blackouts. SOPA must not pass. Congress is the enemy. But who do they fear the most? If this passes, they should go down. Information is ours.

@1gearluver,
Yea, the problem isn’t a government backed/enforced counterfeiting and usury cartel; it’s SUVs!
Whocouldanode? Why was “Thou shalt not drive an SUV” left out of the 10 Commandments? And why did God load the planet with easily accessed oil?
But you hint at the root of the problem. Excessive consumption is funded with loans from the counterfeiting cartel, the banking system. Fix that and very many problems will wither away.
But you riding a bicycle fixes exactly what?

“Speaking with Forbes, Egan-Jones co-founder Sean Egan said “[Germany’s] credit quality has slipped and its debt-to-GDP ratio is increasing.” In the report, the analysts noted the Eurozone’s top dog has debt exceeding €2 trillion ($2.6 trillion) and cash of about €235 billion ($301 billion). Debt-to-GDP levels hit 83% in 2010, will probably hit 92% in 2011 and could reach 116.7% by 2013.”
Hahaha, Egan-Jones has no clue what he is talking about. Germany´s Debt-to-GDP level will fall below 80 % in 2011. He´s a clown.

When are the media going to stop calling them “bonuses”?
Well, they never will, of course, but to be accurate the headlines should say something like:
“Goldman Sachs steals another 8 billion” (that’s how much their “bonuses” are this year, I heard today).
The thing is that people still haven’t TRULY clicked that the banks that they keep their money in are totally corrupt and are leveraged so highly that they will (probably soon) collapse. People complain about these bonuses but STILL keep their money with the banks. If they really knew the extent of the corruption they’d not put it there, or at least take it out as soon as it’s deposited (I buy gold and silver myself).

anyway, if you were 25 in 1945 you had baby boomer baby,s until you were 45. that puts the last baby boomer born in 1965. anyone born after that, is a boomer poser. so fuck off.]
ronron: The definition of a Baby Boomer is anyone born from 1946-1964. THAT’S the definition. Not 1945-1965.
So anyone born in 1946 will turn 66 this year: those are the oldest Baby Boomers. Anyone born in 1964 will turn 48 this year: those are the youngest Boomers. Notice well: Baby Boomers 48 years old will also be paying into the system for another 17 years before they collect the full retirement benefits that they paid for.
17 more years. They aren’t being “supported” by anyone or any generation except themselves. Some (many?)50-66 year old Boomers have 20-30+ year old “kids” living with them now because of economic catastrophe/financial war caused by the top .1% income earners and their paid-for whores in D.C. We are all in it together. It is a war on us all.
It’s no fun for anyone.
Definitions: Orwell stated liars, frauds and propagandists would attempt to change them.
I get a kick out of those stating “Baby Boomers control everything”…hahahahaha.
Since when did we become the top .1%? Think the Baby Boomer generation doesn’t make up the majority of the 99.9% of average Americans? Indeed, we do. Just average Americans struggling along with most everyone else from paycheck to paycheck. If you’re lucky enough to have a paycheck.
Heck, how many of those OLDER than Boomers still have to work? Those “greeters” at Walmart…..67, 69, 71…they aren’t Boomers. Saddens this Boomer.
THEY should be retired, with DOUBLE the benefits, and out SPENDING IT on goods made in the US…on their grandkids. In hotels. In electric vehicles powered by renewable wind and solar energy.
And take a look at a chart of job creation sometime: you’ll notice, those Boomers coming into the job market in 1973 (at 18 years old, the Boomers born in 1955, Middle Boomers), entered a stagnant job market that was very tough to find a job in. The Vietnam War manufacturing had ended, Japan was starting to ship more and more small vehicles that saved gas costs (after Nixon era gas shortages) so less automaker manufacturing jobs were available…and high interest rates limited the ability to drive housing starts and ownership.
Very similar to today’s situation…we survived. We understood ending the Vietnam war meant a drop in MIC employment, the trade off was well worth it. If you support Ron Paul: expect the job market to TIGHTEN EVEN MORE because THAT IS WHAT HAPPENS AT FIRST. Don’t freakin’ WHINE: it is what you wanted!!!
Together, with the youthful enthusiasm of the OWS protestors (bless’em all) and immediate information via the internet, we can make permanent changes to the economic infrastructure…..and a rebirth of the goal of our Founders: Sharing the COMMONWEALTH.
Don’t be fooled: sharing the COMMONWEALTH has NOTHING TO DO with sharing PRIVATELY GAINED AND EARNED wealth.
It means the trees in the national forests belong to us ALL. The highways our taxes built belongs to us all. The bridges.
The water belongs to us ALL. The minerals in the ground belong to us ALL. Oil, Gold, Silver, Copper, etc…it is OURS.
And by utilizing these resources in a sustainable way, we can ALL thrive together. Without stifling the creativity of individuals, without confiscating legitimately gained wealth.
On the other hand…those that used Fraud to gain wealth? Will and should have it CLAWED BACK from them. And DEBT created by Fraud should be wiped clean from the slate. That includes All Debt incurred by the Fed from issuing counterfeit “fiat” paper.
Baby Boomers: an ally you want on your side. WE ARE the lucky generation: our education was the BEST this country ever had: in 1945, the average American could only read at a 4th grade level……before the ones now attacking Public Education could gut it. Or the idiots in the Federal government agencies could institute “P.C” training in education, and “EOE” employment and advancement nonsense, which rewards for the color of your skin or your gender, and not the accomplishments/experience/ability of the individual.
Notice well: Ron Paul attacks Public Education. Notice well: he also attacks EOE…so, in my mind, it is a toss up there.
If you didn’t have Public Education: would your parents have been able to send you to a private school….or not? Would that school, if you could afford one, been as privileged as one a millionaire would send his son or daughter to? For instance, like mayor Rahm Emmanuel in Chicago: gutting Public School budgets…while sending his kids to a privileged private school? The Rahm Emmanuel that left “public service” in D.C., went to Wall Street for two years, collected multi-millions at some hinky “hedge fund” then returned to babysit Obama until another Zionist took over?
The fact he is a Baby Boomer…does that make all Baby Boomers “guilty” of this type of Fraud and attack on the Public Good?
Best take a CLOSER LOOK at who is pillaging our nation. Choose your opponents “wisely.”
Well well…

Dear Stacy, I hope you can help here. The Facebook page ‘Max Keiser Report’. I know you mentioned at the end of last year that it is not official. Yet it uses YOUR RT/Keiser logo. I would imagine you could stop him using that huh? If you wanted? Personally I find the page does you a massive disservice since when I first went there I was under the impression it was for real. Many others obviously do. The ‘blogger’ is a thinly veiled racist/anti-Semite with mixed messaging, unlike the clarity from you/Max. Seems to me that it may be partly responsible for the confusion on YT. I commented that ‘this is not the official KR’, if you want the proper Max or Keiser report page go ‘here’ and he removed my comments.
A simple YES or NO that the page has any mutual affiliation whatsover? Thank you. And best to you guys, you have my utmost respect.

@Alf, indeed, he is a master no less. Ranging through the spectrum of bollocks, total bollocks to utter bollocks. Sadly never really able to make the leap to spectacular bollocks because there is nothing spectacular about him. Plastic man. Synthetic bollocks.

@Alf, and waiting in the wings we have yet more balls. Two ‘Eds are better than one apparently but it’s truly depressing to see no chance whatsoever of anything other than synthetic politics fighting over the political event horizon of the middle ground. Where time becomes a loop. Politics in Britain: a daisy chain of bollock licking.
yeah, it’s all we have left, humour. best to you matey!
