    LONDON – The BP PLC director who became a lightning rod for investor criticism of the company’s handling of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill has indicated he will step down from his post.

    Sir William Castell, whose reappointment as chairman of BP’s safety and ethics committee was opposed by a quarter of shareholders at BP’s last annual general meeting, has decided not to stand for re-election at the company’s next AGM in April.

    The news that the Ugandan government has finally awarded the U.K. oil firm three production licenses brings “extra flexibility” to its balance sheet

    Oil industry analysts welcomed news from U.K. firm Tullow Oil Friday that it had finally been awarded three production licenses by the Ugandan government, with some who follow the company suggesting that Tullow could double production during the next five years.

    New production sharing agreements (PSAs) cover the EA-1 and Kanywataba licenses in the Lake Albert Rift Basin, while Tullow has also been awarded the Kingfisher production license.

    Tullow watchers expect the deal to ultimately unlock $10 billion worth of investments, which include Uganda’s first refinery and a pipeline to the Indian Ocean, in the country’s nascent oil sector. Ugandan geologists have indicated that there could be as much as six billion barrels of oil in the country.

    The deal takes any funding concerns that Tullow might have “off the table”, according to analysts at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

    “Crucially, closing the Uganda deal is key to [bringing] extra flexibility to the balance sheet, particularly as TLW has embarked on a US $2 billion capex program this year. Concerns over TLW funding position now prove completely overstated and we believe that this news should allow the market to focus on the strong fundamentals that the company offers,” said the investment bank.

    Earth Tilting Cycle due ?
    Sun’s activity & effect on Earth ?
    All the other strange events in the animal world
    Weather changes / Jet stream moving significantly
    Strange sounds … Tectonic Plates grinding ?

    Something seems definitely to be “different” … assuming this is all not just the effect of the “too much information” effect that the Internet is now bringing us ( maybe all this happened 100 yrs. ago … but I think not )

    Still …. one can only observe and guess.

    @MM, the volcanic subterranean earth literally keeps us alive because it maintains the soil temperature at a reasonable level. Always a counter argument to colonizing Mars-the ground is cold and the planet hasn’t been volcanic for over a billion yrs so it would be v difficult to grow anything. Did you know that some time in the past the earth had no 23 degrees tilt at all,strange eh-seasons and weather must have been very different

    “I had plenty of experience with my F-16, and Frank Johnson devised a set of retracts for it, thus making it perfect for the movie, so I was hired.

    John Simone also owned and operated the first RC helicopter manufacturing plant in the USA, called American RC helicopters. They made the Mantis and the Eagle. He was the first known person to attempt and successfully loop a RC helicopter. Only a couple of full size, specialized helis could do that, as it was not a practical maneuver for helicopters, and still isn’t.

    ATLAS SHRUGGED – PART 1 … excellent

    I watched the DVD-Film last night and was pleasantly surprised.

    The fact that they made this film for ONLY $5 Million … an amazing feat.
    The actors were excellent , and the story was well framed .
    Obviously, there was a lot of detail missing that was in the book, but I think they did a great job of putting together a fast moving story that should capture the audience.

    Part 2 has been announced – they start filming in April 2012 IIRC.

    $5 Million … is a SHOESTRING budget , considering the quality they achieved.

    Recommend buying the DVD of course… $20 is dirt cheap , consider the Cinema prices these days.

    BTW …. the Bridge made of Reardon Metal was an amazing structure ( only fiction , but still ), and the special effects were excellent.

    What surprised me was that the “era” of the film was pretty recent , as opposed to the 1957 era , that I assume Ayn Rand was reflecting in the book.

    The nice surprise was to hear “Obama’s voice” being used for the Governments Public Addresses.

    @youri, heres the chief research engineer,Boyd Bushman, for lockheed martin skunkworks and has worked on many secret black projects,he’s a number of patents under his belt and is sueing lockheed for not using and revealing to the public (and royalties) of a patent involving a laser/jet engine hybrid, this is a revealing watch-it has anti-gravity stuff-u may have seen it before.
