   “I received a lot of questions from some about why I would allow my song ‘List of Demands’ to be used in a Nike campaign. Ironically, half of the people now reading this post never heard of me until that commercial aired. That, indeed, was one of my reasons for allowing it. A small circle of poets and conscious do-gooders are not enough to effect the change necessary to shift our planet in peril. We must enlist people from all walks of life, people not accustomed to questioning the norm, people who may simply want to dance uninterrupted without message or slogan. I see no glory in ‘preaching to the converted’.    Honestly could not get beyond the first 5 mins of your vid. As a “person of colour” I just think it’s time we stop feeling victimised. Yes, Racism is an injustice, and people need to be held to account. But it takes Two. Racism would never flourish if on some level “Minorities” were not supporting it. When you withdraw support from a thing – it dies.

   Obama knows he is black. He is also very human. Human beings tend to believe in Survival of the Fittest. There are tons of educated “Upscale” blacks and there are Wealthy Blacks – throughout the Diaspora. But in human thinking, for someone to get “up there” means someone else must stay “down there”. Even if he looks just like you.
   If he really really really “Cared about Blacks” he could never have supported or rather left the Banksters so unchallenged. He would have instinctively have known that when people have been discriminated against for EVER they will most likely be among the hardest hit in any Economic downturn. He is “Upscale” Onwards and Upwards – smiling, don’t you know.

    That was an amazing quote, and Saul is way out there among the “Enlightened” it would seem. Yes, more ordinary folk like me do need to expand their thinking to the depth of to quote him – the “planet in peril” Corporate monster model. What that could really mean for themselves, loved ones and future generations.

    However, it is a process, Evolution. I don’t think you can really reach people until they are ready to be reached. There are simply too many people worshipping at the God of Money right now. Too many who have literally “never had it so Good!”. People tend to be terminally Selfish until something jolts them out of that. It is no longer good enough to just love who loves you. The World is in a “Peril” of sorts. Wouldn’t you think it would know it?
    Yet, there is very much value in “preaching to the converted” so that they can keep their sanity and focus – and this in the end will be the Acorn that with time could become an Oak of sorts. Every forest fire was once just a tiny little flame. If Justice can be compared to a flame then hopefully what was igniting so forcefully in 2011 won’t be fizzling out just yet.
