Excellent, responsible interview. Primary experience trumps stupid opinions of politicians who don’t know a f**king thing about what they are talking about and get elected on meaningless soundbites, stature, and slick talk.

It makes one wonder why ANY politician is in office. What about a ‘free market’ political system to replace the central planning model? Surely there must be examples of this in history. Anarcho-syndicalism and Spain perhaps? O.T. but I don’t like single point failures in society. Clearly, our issues are more complex than one person voicing the opinion of some watered down political platform.

The Akin comments represents exactly why the christian right want to teach creationism in science class.
If they get away with that they can make up any old bullshit at any time.

It’s insane for states to give a rapist parental rights to a child who is the result of a rape. However, killing an innocent child because of the actions of the father is also crazy. Can we all agree on this? Cut the fathers nuts off, make him share a prison bed with bubba, punish him severely, give him no parental rights, but don’t kill the child. Can we all agree on this?

man oh man – this women – and my heart goes out to her -

    but

I’m going to say something some people may not like, I think she is a very selfish women for having this child.

If we lived in a society that treated those with disabilities, or even the poor with respect I’d say good for you, but we don’t, and we are so far away from even acknowledging that humans have simple basic needs just to survive why on earth would you put such a burden on this innocent child, and then being an advocate and also going on TV for the world to see???

Cripes, just look at the cruel trolls on this blog alone…

I don’t know this women, she may be bravest lady on earth and perhaps she has the ability to be a spearhead for this issue, but at the expense of another person who didn’t ask to be pulled into the deal or even to exist and be part of this mission….

This women would have had full support and a safe way to end the pregnancy, help in working through what she went though which would have allowed women to avoided the suffering this child will have her whole life. I just can’t condone this. I just think this was such a selfish act.

I can’t even imagine the internal crap this kid will have to deal with, and the endless depression she will suffer as an adult.

Is this what religion does or is she just very stubborn – I truly don’t get this one.

okay let me add, I understand the religious idea of not aborting a child – even though I think religion is bullshit – but why wouldn’t she have at least protected the child by giving her up for adoption?

This just adds to the selfishness I see in this poor and unfortunate women – I don’t want to bash her because she suffered such a violation, but at the same time her decision to have this child and what she is doing now made me think of Octomom.

    oy!

    @Bankerssuck
you’re not killing an innocent child – it is a fetus and women have miscarriages all the time in the first trimester so try and be honest – Until this entity can survive outside the womb it is a woman’s choice.

So no we can not agree.

and your rhetoric to torture the rapist before putting him down violently is more than a little scary.

Medical castration and exile for life or even the death penalty could be justified, but to perpetuate a system where this man will be released and probably in worse shape is not good for anyone.

It is absolutely un-F-ing believable how huge this Akin Story has blown up all over the media, ALL WEEK steady with the story still snowballing with more and more questions, implications, and cringe worthy moments; to top it off for the GOP Hurricane Issac could wreck the upcoming convention. Another GOP freak, that dinosaur Phyllis Schalfly, who is from the same area as Akin, is one of the few people backing up the guy whose science knowledge is directly from medieval times. These are the same people who demand trans-vaginal probes before abortions, push fetus as personhood bills, teach abstinence only sex-ed, prefer tax money fund homeschooling but scream bloody murder when their local public school district wants to raise a tax .25%

…they don’t believe in evolution, global warming, welfare, food stamps, they like executing prisoners, harsh sentences, demonizing immigrants and looking the other way while business friends exploit them. They also like sending jobs away forever while licking the balls of credit card companies, insurance, pharma, banks, agribusiness, energy, etc.. These people, like Todd Akin, Sarah Palin, Donald Trump, Phillis Schlafly, Ayn Rand, Ann Coulter, Glenn Beck, etc. are insane and disgusting because their schtick is religion and Jesus and it is the opposite, it is a lie.

@jischinger SHE formed a bond in her own words YOU dont get to judge and she formed that bond wile that bundle of tisue was in this aledged LIMBO state that is required by the guilt free right to abort crowd so what was that conetion? she senced LIFE growing and conected with it in at at most 30 to 60 DAYS from conception again based on her statments. there ARE moral isues here to be adressed and PRETENDING we some how understand this prosess ANYWARE near well enuff to state THIS is life and this is NOT is asinine! that said there are legitimite and OVERWELMING reasons for a woman to have an abortian and so acess needs to be available but as a scocity we need to quit with the rationalizations and start acting rationaly. if it is nessery then that is IT no debate no judgment from the outside but every one involved MUST execept that what is being done is the ending of a life no word games no pretending just face it and move on it is healthier for all involved and scocity at large and shows PROPER respect for life ALL life even the one that must be ended. the situation as it stands is GROTESQUE and demeans EVERY ONE involved and is a continual distraction from the isues that CAUSE rapes and the rest of the MAIN drivers of abortian along with all the REAL isues we need to get a handle on, for all her bravery and suffering she is STILL stasticly insignifigant in the over all abortian debate 24,000. pregnencies out of 4,130,660. caused by rape with an abortian rate of …..25%+ possably as high as 30% HOLY CRAP!!!! i had no clue it was that BAD grotesque is an under statement in a scocity with accual birth control OPTIONS ……..only 13,000 of wich are from rape BTW so that is 13,000 out of 1,500,000+- abortians…………… i still cant beleve it is this high. as for the gobliegook that what his face spouted that upset her. he is a moron to try to claim that crap. biological tendencies dont work that way it is NOT 100% it is not even close to 100% and for it to be part of any debate on this subject it would have to be

No offense but the trolls here are extremely tame compared to other parts of the internet (Try 4chan, but don’t say I didn’t warn you.) or just meeting some people face to face.

No, not in case of rape and not inception = child.

My father told me this exact thing about 40 years ago and he was never a very religios person. I did not pay much attention to it or even remember it until now.

I think Akin didn’t say anything inflammatory. He conveyed his point clearly. By saying “legitimate rape” he clearly kept Assange in mind who is now sued over so called rape. As far as abortion goes it doesn’t really matter. My own view is that women can do anything with their bodies at will-chop their arms, cut hair, make tattoos, etc. But the life inside of a woman is not her body. That is already a new life and doesn’t belong to her anymore. But we life in a freaky society where pedophiles are gladly taken to work at TSA with senior positions and whole police department chases some wacko guy who stole 10 dollars from 7/11 while crooks like Corzine walk away with billions of dollars free. As far as perpetrators of the rape crime, why are they SITTING in jail? They should be WORKING to support the woman they attacked and the child if she decided to have it. And if she decides to give the child for adoption, the rapist should still support the child. If this laws are passed and enforced, and women start behaving with decency, not as whores (you all know what I mean, so please don’t even bother to respond), than I am sure we’ll have much less crime of that sort.
