[KR346] Keiser Report: Boom & Bust Vicious Cycle

We discuss punk rock ‘Tall Paul’ giving the two finger salute to Ben Bernanke’s QE3 and gold adjusting for zero growth, yield, velocity and confidence. In the second half of the show, Max Keiser talks to the author of Paper Money Collapse, Detlev Schlichter of DetlevSchlichter.com, about quantitative easing to infinity, Central Banking ‘devils’ and the future for the gold standard.

Does this guy also come from the Austrian school of economics, he appears to be a neocon, free market supporting person? He thinks that free markets are a benefit & not a hindrance to today´s economic problems.

I am with Bill Still on this one, in that free markets are the problem. Is Detlev, arguing any differently from the likes of Peter Schiff, in arguing the fall of fiat currencies?

  2. not_me

Max you got some dummy on yourself when you say booms and busts are necessary.

Maybe before the jet engine was invented you would have a point when engines went “boom-bust-exhaust-intake-boom-bust etc.”

But jets, dey give steady power. So could our economy be.

In economics, austerity refers to a policy of deficit-cutting by lowering spending via a reduction in the amount of benefits and public services provided.[1] Austerity policies are often used by governments to try to reduce their deficit spending[2] and are sometimes coupled with increases in taxes to demonstrate long-term fiscal solvency to creditors.[3]

that is from wikki UMMMM so thwe only reason the “tax increses” are even included in the “definition” at all is so that the entity in question can impress the banksters . WHY? so they can borrow more…………..leaving the isue of guberment “borrowing” TOTALY aside. this then means that austerity in econimics means that EVERY ONE including the government “lives with in it’s means” and that is ALL.

    Oxford dictinary
    Definition of austerity

    noun (plural austerities)

sternness or severity of manner or attitude: he was noted for his austerity and his authoritarianism

extreme plainness and simplicity of style or appearance: the room was decorated with a restraint bordering on austerity

(austerities) conditions characterized by severity, sternness, or asceticism: a simple life of prayer and personal austerity

difficult economic conditions created by government measures to reduce a budget deficit, especially by reducing public expenditure: a period of austerity [as modifier]: austerity measures

yea so when does ‘austerity” become nessery? when we have “lived beond the previously mentioned “means” and ALL that is required to fix THIS problem is that we cut back untill income = expenditure corect? UNLESS what we realy want to do is borrow MORE money THEN we need to have a surpluss BUT as the middle class: A) does not like public borrowing generaly and :B) feels EXTRA riped off when the government runs a profit on there backs they MUST be sold on the nessety of an accompening “tax increse” as a shared burden along with the public sector in order that more borrowing can take place ……..and who ULTAMITLY benifits? the public sector THAT is who. and THEY are a burden to WHOME? the tax payers THAT is who!! so HOW THE FUCK IS that a shared burden? it fallst to a HUGE extent on those who are not privileged to work for the guberment

@max on the question Why not simply and directly pay off the loans……..dude get a CLUE !! in the world of ZIRP BofA and the rest if the TBTF have ONLY two flows of “liquidity” to draw on one of them is laundered drug money to other is “debt servicing”

  4. Mary

hardcore, free markets don’t exist anywhere in finance, so to say that free markets are the problem is ridiculous. You are also incorrect when you imply that Austrian economists are neocons. Nothing could be further from the truth. You are completely confused on both econ and politics. I hope no one pays any attention to your post.

You are correct that Detlev follows the Austrian School. Interesting that Max had him on. I guess it shows that Max is just as confused as you are.

  5. Mary Genoud

Really good show including Volcker’s V sign. Since it is too late for QE3, what about changing the rules for QE4? What would happen if QE4 went to fund energy efficiency; devices, alternatives, new materials for construction, renovations, insulation, white roofs, etc?? People would have a fund to borrow from at near zero interest rate, however the government would collect 25cents on the dollar by extending the low cost interest for a decade or more. This would increase business activity, aid families and businesses from increasing fuel prices, and efficiency in itself would provide a buffer against increased costs related to depleting finite resources.

Forgive the off topic, I don’t want to seem like the “oh, your hair type”; but the financial theme – like the Likud obsession with a war against Iran theme – is getting so redundant that it is hard to see anything new in the subject. And yet, rightly, Max will call out, repeatedly, of the out right illegal plunder that is currently going on; as much as, the Presstitute media is repeating their Bullshit.

So, I have nothing to add currently for the financial conversation. Keep up the outstanding work Max and Stacy!

    Now for my joke.

Max you look tired and Stacy you look radiant and sexy. Hmmmm, what have you two been up to?

“econimic booms” are CAUSED in the first place. the EFECT is a “bust” as the leverage “unwinds”.
this is NOT a natural cycle and NEVER was , there are records of the INSTRUCTIONS from london to there bank branches in the states STATING there intent to turn the boom they had ingender in to a bust in order that american land holding farmers could be redused to tenats on there own land………. LOOK around you WTF do you think is going on RIGHT now?
BOOMs are created and the lending TARGETED to acomplish THIS exact end. this prosess was repeted over and over again as the population was pushed to settel more and more land as each successive wave was duped and then forclosed on.

The problem is we arent on the gold standard, or the silver standard, we’re on the house standard and people are collecting houses, as they know shelter is the most valuable and most essential asset, particularly since governments have given up protecting rent and rather permit a housing free for all to increase the national net worth (whatever use that may be beyond supporting mass delusion).

I’m not an expert, so here are my five cents:

Max tried to save his ass, but he [Schlichter] kept devending mortgages as they are writen today. Hence his point that a derivative of said mortgage has ligitemecy.

Isn’t it true (here I’m not so sure) that derivatives can be post as coladeral and take out a cash loan? If so, in one way or another, isn’t that were fractional/re-hypothecation starts.

Anyway; loved the show… and it might have been grey outside, Stacy’s hair looked golden!

Will Israel hack the US banking system computers and Falsely Blame It On Iran?

Israel has admitted to previous use of false flag attacks to justify war against Middle Eastern nations.

UPDATED: Netanyahu didn’t get any traction at the UN today. Indeed his bomb chart has become an object of ridicule in the alternative media. By now he is throwing a huge tantrum. He wants his war and Netanyahu is a man used to always getting what he wants.

There are only three things Netanyahu can do now to get the war with Iran going before the Israeli elections next month.

The first is to simply go ahead and attack Iran, expecting that the United States will protect Israel from the counter-attack even if Israel struck the first blow.

The second option is a false-flag attack somewhere in the world to be blamed on Iran, but that is a very chancy option given the video of WIMEA lobbyist Clawson actually selling the idea that a false flag to start the war with Iran is a great idea.

The third and final option, and the one I am starting to think is the most likely, relates to the sudden flurry of media stories and statements by people like Joseph Lieberman about how Iranian hackers are attacking the US financial system computers. Senator Lieberman has also been ( pressuring Obama to sign an executive order to take over the internet.) Of course, the common sense approach still applies. Why would Iran, which wishes to avoid a war, do something that provocative.

But we know that the US and Israel are behind the cyber-weapons like STUXNET, DUQU, FLAME, etc., taht these cyber-weapons were directed against Iran, and that one variant specifically targeted banks in Lebanon and Iran. We also know that the US financial system is stretched to the breaking point, and we know that if the government of either Greece of Spain is driven from office by angry protests, credit default swaps sold by Wall Street against those debts come due, and there is no money to pay the claims. The Euro might even collapse, and that would trigger even more Credit Default Swaps. So the final option, one that strikes me as very likely, is that Israel will take down the US financial computers, and blame it on Iran. This also gets Wall Street and Washington DC off the hook, because now the financial melt-down is an act of war, rather than the result of decades of Wall Street crime and corruption and the predations of Private Central Banks. US banks have already been hit with cyber attacks over the last two weeks, to set the stage. And this would also explain why the US corporate media has paid scant attention to the riots in Spain and Greece so that Americans still dependent on ABCNNBBCBS will remain oblivious to the fact that the Euro is falling apart.

This scenario also explains the testing of means to interfere with DNS to silence websites that may offer opposing interpretations of events (this too will be blamed on Iran).

Such a cyber false-flag also gives the US Government the excuse to take total control of the internet so that those pesky truth-seeking bloggers don’t give the slaves uppity ideas that this is just another war-starting hoax like the attack on the USS Liberty or 9-11.

PLEASE REPOST THIS THEORY TO YOUR SOCIAL NETWORKS. If we can make them doubt that the official story of a financial system computer crash will be believed by the public, we can get them to call it off! If the bank computers and alternative media do crash, the US/Israel did it!
Between the possibility of a false-flag hack attack, or the collapse of the Eurozone, or just the continuing fraud by the US financial system, you should only have as much money in the banks as is needed to cover your outstanding obligations, and you should have the rest of your money under your own personal control in case those bank doors do not open and the ATMs stop working. ‘

As is known, we are witnessing a full on currency war. The so called “race to the bottom”.

The bottom of what? you may ask? The bottom of spending power i.e. devaluation of all paper currencies, hence virtually all central banks buying gold, and some so far, silver.

Max , I would put to you, as you already will likely acknowledge, is that the FED (Anglo / US alliance) has already declared a state of war.

QE to infinity is a statement of intent of war to infinity, till they win or lose the currency war. Financial war without end until only one side is left standing, no matter what the human cost.

In a war economy therefore the “real economy” does not matter!, and therefore the general populace does not matter.

There is only one objective in such “total war” and that is to be the victor over the other monetary powers and the populace become…”expendable assets” in that war.

Clearly other nations with any savvy at all, know this and can either capitulate or, fight back.

Iran and the Islands near China are but a manifestation of “asset snatches” in such a war which lead on from the inevitable ever growing worthlessness of fiat.

Territorial disputes inevitably lead to hot wars, and that is where we are inching towards, but this time the difference is that it will involve WOMD.

Even with the best will in the world, should the military seek to avoid or oppose such a situation (as they are at present) all it needs is one terrible mistake or mis-calculation, and the likelyhood of exponential escallation, especially with computerised systems, is frighteningly likely.

The secret shadow powers of the illuminati, care not for democracy or human life, and I strongly suspect that they will take hold of the reigns soon for “total war” to start the ball rolling irrespective of the puppet politicians who think that they have some semblance of notional control, when in fact they do not!

@Susan, The easiest way to take down the western economies and blame Iran would be to cause an incident that leads to the Straits of Hormuz to close to tanker traffic. This is about 35% of global daily oil supply.

Western economies cannot operate when the oil price goes up to a certain level. This is especially true if those economies are already in recession. Whenever you buy any food item in a supermarket a large part of the price is basically oil based energy cost at every stage of production, transportation storage and point of sale. All of the staff are dependent on the fuel in their vehicles to even turn up for work.

If you take a consumer who commutes to work, who already has a lot of overheads like a large mortgage, at a certain point the extra energy costs can easily mean he is working for nothing bearing in mind rocketing food prices. There are literally millions of people who are in this boat right now.

The other reason that they would do this is to keep the Dollar going because most oil is traded in Dollars it has the effect of soaking up the global glut of Dollars. If the prices go from say $100 to $300 a barrel the oil trade soaks up three times more Dollars than before although this is slightly offset by the reduced available supply.

I don’t think a cyber false flag would be very convincing and it’s very hard to be able to pin such a thing on an individual nation. The other thing is that the western banking model is their system and they are responsible for keeping it working so in spite of any hysterical finger pointing it’s doubtful if they could convincingly deflect the blame away from themselves.

  26. Tamir

Some of the comments made in this thread about destroying the world economy, destroying Israel, etc. etc. etc. are so shocking that I feel that quoting myself (from a previous thread) is adequate:

“Please stop making sense ! Don’t be silly ! Israel must be wiped out. You’re dealing with potential assassins here. These people would gladly blow themselves up. Don’t bother man, do you really believe you can convince a JonnyJames or his quiz master Susan (“Suz”)? Forget it…”

Now; some folks here are openly discussing ways to destroy the world essentially, while nagging about a certain gesture that depends on a angle. Now idiotic.
But I know what’s gonna happen. Iran will get its nuclear weapons, the Israelis can’t do shit about that. It’s too late. The US, China and Russia will accept this. Susan and JonnyJames will write letters to Iranian leadership commemorating the revolution and urging them to use these things and put the blame on Israel. They will also urge them to give a few samples to Hezbollah for the tingeing excitement of being able to murder millions of people with the blink of an eye.
And Israel? It will get use to the situation, focus on self defense and destabilizing the regime in Tehran.

  27. Tamir

I want to say one more thing.
    I am a software engineer.
I have worked and still am working with machines.
In my opinion, STUXNET, DUQU, FLAME etc. are fantastic achievements and I’d LOVE to be part of the crew that put these things together.
Why? Because 1. technical interest 2. the changes to make a real difference in this fight 3. to be the last man standing. 4. because my family’s live depends on it.
because my family’s live depends on it.
because my family’s live depends on it.
because my family’s live depends on it.
because my family’s live depends on it.
because my family’s live depends on it.
because my family’s live depends on it.

I know that some of the less humane folks around here don’t get it – I’d leave it at that. I don’t care. In this fight, you can’t show compassion with the bad guys. That is a luxury for the timid.

  28. susan

    @Danny:

Living out here in the woods, I try to think outside the box a lot, normally pondering on ‘Cui bono’. I agree with what you say, but where we differ is that I think the ‘globalists’ (for want of a better term) do not want the Western economies to survive – they used the US as an experimental ground, and as it hasn’t worked (people didn’t spend the money they had educating themselves and their children, but instead bought bigger and bigger TVs and more and more pizzas).

There was also something Pastor Williams said in one interview (I forget with whom) about the Oil oligarchs needing the price to go up to a certain level in order to make it profitable to start using the Liberty Rig up in Alaska, and they are quite willing to set MENA alight in order to achieve that goal.

There’s also a tiny possibility, I suppose, that they were aware of the untenable ecological situation and decided that an economic collapse would save off an ecological collapse. This is something I’ve considered many times, as we are using up all the world’s resources far too quickly and unsustainably. A global economic crash/war could do two things: 1) consolidate the globalists grip on power and finances and 2) drastically reduce the use of the planet’s resources, giving the planet time to recover (fish stocks, forests, clean water, etc). In short, de-industrialise.

I don’t think these globalists are emotional about any particular country or geographical area, as they see it all as one large chess-board, and as Catherine Austin Fitts said in her interview with Max the other week, the TBTF banks have played their part magnificently, and now everyone is really angry with them (not the real people behind the curtain) and so it is time to bring in (already prepared) global legislation to cut them down to size and return to Community Banks, re-introduce some Glass-Steagal-type Act, etc, whilst at the same time encouraging people to ‘buy local’, etc etc.

Blimey, I’ve even managed to convince myself that these people might be right…except for the billions of deaths that they are willing to cause, and which they see as ‘worth it’, to use Albrights term.

Final thought in the back of my mind: I think M&S know all of this, and are possibly globalists themselves, or at least work for them. This post will possibly get me banned, so ‘bye’ all, it was good knowing you! There have been no AGW posts lately – noticed? Here’s a good radio interview about geoengineering, which plays a huge part in the scenario outlined above:

@Susan, Well said, we are all left with speculation as we witness the swirling madness around us. I personally think the old world order will fail but have no idea how much damage will be done in the process.

I’m not really sure about Lindsey williams. I think he’s being genuine but his so-called elite insiders of course know that he publishes the info he gets so I can’t really know if they are feeding him disinfo. I noticed years ago he detailed the huge Prudoe bay Alaska field that was discovered and classified in the late 1960s. I know something about oil fields as I have a driller in the family. The big field had very low recovery costs which means that it is fairly shallow and easy to pump out.(according to Lindsey Williams about 6 years ago). The super deep shell well doesn’t make any sense if you have a easy recoverable shallow field that’s huge. You wouldn’t need deep wells for many years so why spend all that money when you can pump oil from many different wells for the same money?

If you are trying to get a new supply online, a single deep well that they haven’t even finished drilling yet is not the way. They could have drilled and capped many wells in the shallow field and then simply move production rigs over the caps and start pumping. They you have a known quantity where it’s just a matter of hardware and infrastructure to be ready to roll. The shell well is an exploration rig. It’s oil quality is unknown until they get their hands on some. Capped wells would have already been tested and would be known the grade and specs, Etc. You have to know the spec because different refineries handle different specs for different finished products. Without spec you can’t take the oil to market. You don’t know who wants it or how far away the refineries are in proximity to the well. The plot according to Lindsey doesn’t make any sense. (although who knows?).

Garden: Yes is did well although the early stuff didn’t do it because it was too wet with a late spring . Big surprise was a load of old fashioned Loganberry plants that some else was digging up and throwing away. I planted all the big old roots in a row and the yields are huge. I’m taking loganberries (a large late raspberry) virtually every day and they just keep coming. I had 4 weeks of fruits. The guy that gave them to me said they carry on until usually late October.

What Bernanke has done is facilitate the ownership (by the Fed)of every mortgage in America. The $40 billion will be spent (and si being spent go check it out Max) on purchasing Mortgage backed securities; that’s right, the banks don’t own your mortgage any more the Fed does. They will then use these on the derivatives market. This is how you get to own every piece of land, housing, shopping mall in America. Do some research Keuser Report. This what’s going on. And will somebody please frckin buy frickin shares in Zombie Grannies on PMF!!!!!!

  33. Jeff

What Bernanke and this unlimited QE is facilitating is the ownership of every mortgage in the US by the Fed (and those behind them.) Go do some research. What the $40 billion “easing” is being spent on are Mortgage backed Securities. Go check it out Keiser Report; the fed now owns & will own every piece of land, house, shopping mall etc that has a mortgage in America paid for by this money from thin air!!! They will then use these on the derivatives market. Bernanke is neither mad or stupid; this “easing” ticks so many boxes of the elites’plan it’s unreal. The month by devaluation of the dollar with all it’s eugenics ramifications (for those on fixed incomes) the purchase of MBS (they will end up owning everything) etc etc. And will somebody pleeeease buy some fricking bitcoin share sin Zombie Grannies onPMF!!!!!

Re Lindsey Williams, I listen with a very sceptical ear, and he’s shamelessly self-promoting, but it’s useful to see if what he says fits into place going forward. He seems to corroborate Jim Willie in saying that Saudi will be next to tumble. We’ll see. If they do, there goes the oil price!

    @Tamir
notice that susan and I aint the only ones that don’t believe the nonsense?
I am the first to criticize the criminal policies of the govt. that purports to represent the USA. How can you not criticize the criminal, sociopathic insane policies of your country and Nutty-yahoo? He disregards the advice of his own military, defense and intelligence community and makes up lies that only a child could believe.

You can delude yourself with propaganda and fairy-tales, but please don’t insult the rest of us with your ridiculous BS

About Tamir; well, from what I distil (I.e. wild guess on my part) he’s either playing it [botting] or he is cought between a rock and a hard place.

It must be mind altering to be on the verge -or active- conflict for generations and still are dependend on money to provide for food and shelter for ones family.

Sympathy is granted when remorse kicks in. Till then, let me be free of his dogma of escalating a war to save his family. War has as many loosers as there are partisipants. Willing on unwilling.

    Fun Fact:
Someone asked me to keep an eye out for the UPS truck. This person is waiting for the new iphone to arrive.

    !Arrrg!

  39. Tamir

    @JonnyJames,

There is one difference between us: I was born in the middle-east. I know mostly what I talking about – you and suz seem to be guided by a neo-liberal wishful thinking about what reality is. Stacy and Max are no different.
I want you to tell me that the middle- east is heading to a democracy.
I want to hear that Jordan will not be the next to fall into the hand of terrorists and Egypt, Syria and Libya (read any good Egyptian newspapers recently? Nazi propaganda pales compare to it. I kid you not. Google it!).
I want you to tell me that Egypt is decoding a democracy.
I want to believe that Lebanon is not going to face serious problems once the Sunnis take control over Syria, threatening the Hezbollah-Iran link.
I want to believe that Israel is not facing incredible internal problems due to changing demography and other related factors.
The entire Arab/Muslim world is sliding into chaos, state sponsored terrorism and collapse. A military confontation between Egypt and Israel is not fare fetched, even.
You can either take my words as a simple reality, or continue listening to Stacy and Max (they are nice but a little illiterate about the middle-east) and suz.
    It is up to you.

The too-many spelling mistakes in the previous post a thanks to apple’s spell checking and an over-developed tendency to correct good old Johnny and co…

  41. JonnyJames

    @Tamir
Why do you war mongers never answer my question? More BS diversions. Answer the f-in question!!

  42. JonnyJames

Tamir you need to get some education: “neoliberal” is a term to describe a version of neoclassical economic theory. Sometmes called the “Chicago School”

Get your terms straight if you want to talk to the grown-ups.

  43. JonnyJames

    @capt. ray
Yes, the irony is that the underlying message is: “we have the right to steal Palestinian land, water rights and starve them out, kill them, commit war crimes AND we have the right to launch wars based on fairy-tales (resulting in hundreds of thousands killed) so that we ‘can defend our families’”. Anyone with half a brain

After all those “others” are uentermenschen and they don’t count. The US and Israel don’t even bother to “do body counts”, for that matter.
The Nazis of the 21st century

    Unter and ubermensch – exactly!

However; ones a person (like Tamir and many many other) are forced into the postition they are in, judging (while not involved) becomes odd. I’ll understand my inability to fatom the deepness of the mess.

Kill them before they kill you is fear propaganda on one hand and reality on the other.

Let me say this to Tamir: To engineer others to death in the hope to stay alive is wishfull thinking. Time is your personal mortal enemy taunt it wisely.

… about spell check, yeah… too bad aapl bought that pattent with my lot wages.

    GREAT DOCUMENTARY !!!

    DEFAMATION

What is Antisemitism today, two generations after the Holocaust? In his continuing exploration of modern Israeli life, director Yoav Shamir travels the world in search of the most modern manifestations of the “oldest hatred”, and comes up with some startling answers.
In this irreverent quest, he follows American Jewish leaders to the capitals of Europe, as they warn government officials of the growing threat of Antisemitism, and he tacks on to a class of Israeli high school students on a pilgrimage to Auschwitz.
On his way, Shamir meets controversial historian, Norman Finkelstein, who offers his views on the manner that Antisemitism is being used by the Jewish community and especially Israel for political gain. He also joins scholars, Stephen M. Walt and John J. Mearsheimer, while they give a lecture in Israel following the release of their book “The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy”, about the disproportional influence the Israel lobby in Washington enjoys.
Yoav visits Yad Vashem, the Holocaust memorial museum in Jerusalem, the must stop for all world leaders on their visits to Israel. While in Jerusalem, he drops by the house of his grandmother that offers her insight on the issue and declares that she is the “real Jew”.

Thanks for the Anti-semite video produced by that wonderful Israeli!
    Absolutely Brilliant!

So many in endearing Jews in it, both orthodox and not.

The ADL and the Southern Poverty Law Center are rackets just for the money. They are not based on truth or Psychological health.

My father used to work for Campbell Soup as an executive in Purchasing. He had a lot of Jewish clients who he did business with, bought their products and became friends. He used to come home with lots of Jewish jokes; meaning, told by Jews.
Tonight I was at a Octoberfest celebration and I told a German descendent guy – or an American of German descent guy or who knows what his ethnic background was., an old Jewish joke and I could see his uncomfortable expression. Hey man, it’s just a joke it’s ok to laugh even if it originates from Jewish culture and you are German. History has it’s place, but let us be present – in the present – together and allow that to be what it is. It is almost as if this taking Israeli kids to the concentration camps, is to traumatize them into a martyr mentality to make them oblivious to others suffering.

    @ vonda

You made me watch a 1 1/2 vid of something I already knew ;D!

A long time ago I saw a very short vid of kids singing [my guess is that it were israeli kids] hate songs in a school bus. … I had breakfest-lunch-and diner at the same time.

Too bad that guy at around 1:07.00 wasn’t allowed to say more (his wife… tell me about it ;) )…

To bad I can’t perswave Tamir to let land loose and hop on a boat.

    Fun Fact:
There is more water than there is land.

    @Jonnyjames,

I believe I have expressed my general dissatisfaction with Israeli policies in the past and I still do so from time to time. I feel no need to repeat myself, because that insanity, unlike the Islamist insanity, is more or less constant…
