    It’s pretty obvious that, with movements to accept gay marraiges, and the legalization of pot in a couple of states, the nation has culturally entered a period of a lurch to the left, driven by the same forces that produced a similar result in the 1930′s (FDR). As many on the Left had to endure the torment of the Reagans and Bushes while everyone in America believed they could get rich, now the Right may have to endure a decade or more of left-ish politics. Will they endure it with grace and dignity? Probably not.
    Granted, Obama is not FDR. Nonetheless, the Republicans, suffering from shock, will be very still for a while. But they hate Obama so much, we shouldn’t be surprised if they try to leverage the Benghazi thing into an impeachment attempt, once they recover from their current faint and get off the floor.

They just didn´t think or care! Issues like “gay marriage” are nothing but a big DISTRACTION from anything else, the REAL issues!!!! .. to be fought out!

    PS: do I have to mention “the green parties” all over the world, are not really helpful in all this?
    They have long given up on really fighting desastreous nuclear power …. they´re pretty easy on GMOs spreading like cancer all over the planet …. irreversible damage!!! … they don´t fight anymore!!! .. they have been bought by exactely by the same corporations, they pretend to be against, only to gain, or stay in power!
    ….. “we the sheeple” are buying everything anyways!!!!!

    What you say is true, people should give up on the two party system. I think they will, but only after things get much, much worse. Greece shows us this, only now do they have several parties, with some new ones rising up from the ashes of the old ones. But one of those is the Golden Dawn, a neo-Nazi party.

    This looks to be a replay of the 1930′s in certain ways…

    I think it’s important that some of these side issues get somewhat ‘settled’ so that the main issues can go front and center. I don’t see any other way for this to happen.

    The Republican party is one of basically old white male fundamentalists, and though I don’t doubt a ‘younger’ fascist party will eventually replace it, at least by that time, the focus will be more on economics.
