Says who! The “guardian” from totalitarian England!!!
Yeah, they’re shrinking, just like Algore’s tragic photo of the last two polar bears on the last ice cube on earth.
Or the debunked claim the polar cap was receding or the debunked claim it was getting thinner or the debunked claim that the glaciers in the Cascades were retreating 10 years ago, and on the last examination, the major ones like Mt. Baker and the one big one and two smaller ones that feed Lake Chelan were as big or bigger than they’d been since 1962.
Grow the fuck up.
lol@totalitarian England. Yeah, and guess what logger, my next door neighbours are Miss Marple and the Queen and I wear a pin striped suit when I go to work in the “City”. There’s no dictatorship where I live. Maybe you’re the one who should do the growing up.
“The earth is still very much in its infancy. You can expect a lot of changes.”
Now who was it who said that…
10000 years a go my front door here in England was blocked by a glacier, what happened to that block of ice? did Dean Martin drink it all a way in his martinis?

Global warming, the tool of the West
PRAVDA, By Stanislav Mishin
For years, the Elites of the West have cranked up the myth of Man Made Global Warming as a means first and foremost to control the lives and behaviors of their populations.

Remember Fahrenheit 911? Shown in EVERY public classroom and you wonder how the current crop of politicians that are destroying the USA got elected? Another clear reason to ABOLISH the Dept of Education
AGW is a ploy to empower the NWO 1% elites, regulate & drain wealth of world’s citizens.
Yet some ‘still’ choose to refuse to step away from the fraudulent science, doctored reports and outright lies from the globalists. Why?
“Global warming” covers half of Northern hemisphere with… snow!
Historic snowfall in the Pyrenees!!
I want some warming please….
Can we move this CRAP off to another website or something? Do us all a favor OK?
I hope that there is enough ice melt to flood Manhattan and take out Wall St. I hope that a few hundred Banksters go down with their ship and that the high frequency trading computers buried under the sidewalks short circuit causing Jamie Dimon to fry.
@ weather non-observers.
Andean glaciers loss of 30% to 50% and inherent fresh water supply are not only related to carbon excess, but to rates of consumption. In 1980 global population was approximately 3 billion plus, today 6.8. Therefore for the past 20 years we have historic stress on natural resources particularly fresh water, along with EXCESS CO2. Solar sails, carbon/methane sequestering, white roofs and white mountain tops are some of the technologies we have, but only if we adopt a global economic plan to address the inevitable energy transition from finite to renewable. As for CO2 yawners, you won’t be very happy the day when there is nothing left to pump!
Dear Max and Stacy,
Please stick to the topic you two are so incomparably wonderful at.
Please don’t blunt your flying phalanx into the gut of the beast.
With much love and appreciation
Ps. Proud of you for not bailing out on AJ
Hooray! More water for us to drink! More arable land!
What’s all the good news about having ice every where anyway? Get rid of it! Let’s farm Siberia!
Boring, boring! to see the same tired, worn out responses, once more here on Max’s site.
“stick to finance Max – that’s your area of expertise”
“AGW is a MYTH”
“It’s aNWO Plot to take away our civil liberties”
I cannot say whether the planet will make short work of the human experience for sure. I know one thing – the planet has been transforming the carbon-rich energy we have used up in less than 200 years over many millions of years. Only a fool would assume that this reaction will not have, an equal and opposite reaction.
Andean glaciers melting? What do you warmists expect? It is summer down there!
Snow and ice melts in the spring and summer.
@Mary A lot of us did not come here to discuss this one way or the other.
SOMEbody’s a liar here, and it not me… or them!—> http://youtu.be/ipRpsmKGlrE
Cole, you mealy mush-mouthed piece of simpering cowering goat shit, fuck you AND the queen you rode in on.
I will be fishing in Patagonia (Chile) for 10 days so will report back . By the way the UK is not really totalitarian is just a fuck up lol.
Global warming is mother nature’s response to an ever cooling sun.
(I always wonder what the global warming people really want. You know….really.)
EHR & bit chin

“Boring, boring! to see the same tired, worn out responses…”
For a slightly more informed discussion of this topic, on a site actually dedicated to the subject of climate, visit this page (great, reasoned comments follow):
Or, stick with Max and Stacy, who will not and can not provide credible follow up regarding their AGW propaganda. They throw the word Denier about. They don’t even realize how this disrupts any acceptance of their ideas. See, I’m not ever going to come around, nor would anyone, with that trash lingo. The art of persuasion is lost on the blathering bore though. He’s barely more than a cartoon.
Thing is, you deny. You who simply deny the very power of nature herself while she dances before you. These brilliant variations are hers, baby, not yours. You keep on impotently playing with your paint-by-numbers illusion. I’ll enjoy the weather. And I’ll continue to visit WattsUpWithThat.com for rational climate information, where no one is called a Denier, because there are no deniers.
Max, you are a fool. You just can’t help yourself.
Was just listening to Lagarde in Davos.
“If we don’t do anything about global warming our children will grill, fry and bla bla bla.!!
And the propaganda goes on and on and on.
This woman needs to come back to earth.
Olympia Logger – you’re embarassing yourself- and clearly out of your league.
Yes but these high altitude glaciers are disappearing because of a lack of humidity. The temperatures are the same as before. This is also happening in Africa. The cause is deforestation to make way for mono-crop industrial farming. It this which lowers the glacier ice content and it ‘s being happening for many decades. When you keep clearing forests the continents become drier.
So corporate eco-vandalism is causing this.
Apparently it always does melt fast at the peak just before dipping into an ice age.
Max is a clever guy, but like lots of intelligent people he can’t admit it when he’s wrong.
Max – with all this climate BS you’re on the side of the globalists.
FFS – man up and admit it.
Go to http://wattsupwiththat.com/ and educate yourself, and stick to what you know.
Oh – and do you really think the rants persuade anyone? They entertain the faithful, but they turn of newcomers
FIVE SUPER WARMING FEEDBACKS that have potential to end human civilization and all life on earth:
1. Artic Ocean Methane Hydrates – Science March 2010 total possible methane released equal to 1000-10,000 gigatons of carbon compared to 226 gigatons of carbon put into the atmosphere since the industrial revolutions
2. Warm Atlantic Water is now traveling up through Fram Straights in Greenland directly into the arctic ocean. Arctic is predicted to be ice-free by 2015. Ice free arctic ocean hasn’t happened for 3 million years, since before humans on the planet. Science January 2011
3. Siberian Methane release increase – some methane vents reported up to 1 kilometer in diameter – Tellus Feb 2011
4. Amazon Drought – Science Feb 2011 – because of drought, Amazon natural decomposition of organic materials released more CO2 than all the cars, trucks, planes, coal plants, etc… in the USA during the same year.
5. Antarctic methane, similar to Siberian methane will be released if melt continues. Total content is 10x all carbon now in the northern hemisphere.
Enjoy the party while it last, you wretched, timorous, hate filled, gutless, mewling blockhead droolspittle meatslugs.
The theory of man-made global warming is a hoax.
With respect to the Andean Glaciers, they have been melting for 10,000 years. It is true that the melt has accelerated during the last 200 years, but it is all part of cyclic climate change.
part on bitchez while you still can,
this thing aint gonna turn back on a dime…
even if we did bother to do something seriously about it.

@curious Lemme get this straight. Your take on the most significant issue facing humanity is contingent on whether or not you think Max and Stacy are poopyheads.
“See, I’m not ever going to come around, nor would anyone, with that trash lingo. The art of persuasion is lost on the blathering bore though.”
So you would buy it if they were nicer to your ilk or something? I don’t get it.
BTW, I don’t think that the concerns re: warming are focused on whether or not Mother Nature will carry on. It’s quite clear that she will, in 1 way or another. The question is whether human civilization as it it currently constituted will be in her plans.
Human civilization isn’t much without civility. Hence, Max should find efficacy in a more civil approach. (long standing advice I’ve been giving) But, to clarify it for you, I do not hang my opinion on anything anyone says. I’ve put my time in reading everything I can, and incorporate the best of it and toss out the trash. Why Max wants to be trash is his game. Ask him. He’s honestly doing the AGW crowd a huge disservice. I don’t accept the premise however for other reasons. Whether or not Max is nice is not going to change that. But it might for some.
Language is important. Hint:
I am in total agreement with you that, ’1 way or another’ nature will carry on. I think its up to us to worry about civilization (and Max’s input on germane subjects has been what has kept me around for so long despite HIS spiteful and hate-filled language – just look back). So, until Max realizes that the rest of the community he wants to belong to has been leaning away from vitriol and learns a little more about the “other” side of the debate (which no AGW-hater here has ever seemed to be able to demonstrate), I will continue to remind Max to be polite.
Amazing, really, how the clear and present danger of global warming and climate change has become so politicized (“I don’t like Al Gore’s socks” etc.) that there is no discussion of the real issues. Here we are steaming on the Titanic, arguing about the placement of deck chairs, or even denying the reality of that huge iceberg, dead ahead, and not taking any meaningful actions.
Global warming is a real physical danger to us all – it’s not some sort of bizarre plot – it’s actual reality – and it’s scary and is going to be hugely expensive – if we make it at all.
The Titanic was probably the Olympic, her sister ship. Two words: insurance fraud. So, perhaps the AGW debate has more in common with titanic misdirection (the sinking was planned in advance of the voyage) as revealed in this persuasive historical analysis:
It also a possible example, if true, how the entire world can be fooled by a plausible story. We still talk about sailing on the Titanic.
Max must have missed this one:
First, we should note the extraordinary inverted pyramid constructed atop the belief that fossil fuels are the main source of the annual increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide. The issues of temperature changes and sea-level rises, even the predicted spread of malaria and other tropical diseases, are no more than secondary or tertiary issues. Move further up our inverted pyramid and we find all the industrial research and development programmes, which range from the so-far unsuccessful attempts to sequester carbon dioxide –to extract it at great cost from emissions and bury it — to methane-free cows and alternative energy sources. Curiously, there appears no enthusiasm for nuclear energy, which is entirely carbon-free.
Moving even higher up the topsy-turvy pyramid, we come to the financially fertile fields of industry-assistance programmes, subsidies for grossly inefficient wind power developments and the like, and billions of dollars in taxpayer-backed loans and grants to renewable energy corporations – handouts distributed despite a near-total absence of documentary evidence attesting to the technologies’ viability.
We have now climbed to very top of the inverted pyramid, where we find a financial heaven for the bankers who buy and sell carbon “indulgences”, much as medieval pardoners once presented pig bones as the relics of saints and persuaded the gullible that purchasing them, or a written indulgence expiating past sins, represented the best hope of salvation. All the faithful had to do was hand over their cash.
There is no doubt with a structure of this sort that the upper-level inhabitants get a bit edgy whenever doubts are raised about the soundness of the foundations. After all, careers and funding are at risk, not to mention the asset value of pension funds, companies’ market capitalisations and bankers’ bonuses.
You may think that your interest is only bean-counting; however what do you do without energy and water, the basic elements of any financial paradigm? Who will energize this planet; irrigate production of food, which by the way you need to buy and with what in exchange?
You may think that your interest is only bean-counting; however what do you do without energy and water, the basic elements of any financial paradigm? Who will energize this planet; irrigate for the production of food, which by the way you need to buy and with what in exchange?
The Carbon Disclosure Project:
“The CDP represents 655 institutional investors, with a combined $78 trillion under management.”
Banks. Multi-nationals. You know, Max’s friends.
78 trillion tells us plenty about whose interest all this GW propaganda is really in. And, as some here have already said, why spoil a great website with this divisive subject?
“The enemy is clearly delineated: he is a perfect model of malice, a kind of amoral superman — sinister, ubiquitous, powerful, cruel, …The enemy wills, indeed, he manufactures, the mechanism of history, or tries to deflect the normal course of history in an evil way. He makes crises, starts runs on banks, causes depressions, manufactures disasters, and then enjoys and profits from the misery he has produced. The paranoid’s interpretation of history is distinctly personal: decisive events are not taken as part of the stream of history, but as the consequences of someone’s will. Very often, the enemy is held to possess some especially effective source of power: he controls the press; he has unlimited funds; he has a new secret for influencing the mind (brainwashing)…”
” Very often, the enemy is held to possess some especially effective source of power: he controls the press; he has unlimited funds; he has a new secret for influencing the mind (brainwashing)…” & “tries to deflect the normal course of history in an evil way”
The psychopath causes these. What is described is tertiary. But the psychopath is an odd human-domain dilemma. On the one hand, history is a play of actors, and those actors of particular mention are often our “undiagnosed” psychopaths, cast as leading role. Sometime hero, sometimes anti-hero.
an extremely short, improvised proposal in rebuttal to the paranoid view of history, opposed to the perspective that an un-affected stream of history exists; because a stochastic perspective of history will not suffice.
Sometimes, individual will has shaped human history.
“In 2003 a groundbreaking historical genetics paper reported results which indicated that a substantial proportion of men in the world are direct line descendants of Genghis Khan.”
The “paranoid” view of history is not unanchored to reality. There is a monster among us, whose aspect is normal in the sense that it is fully within the range of human genetic expression. The effects of their presence are manifold. The affect is felt in the gut.
The psychopathic “view” is contagious. A term, psycho-empathy, could be used to describe it. At the foundation it can be called ponerogenesis. A new term to express what has before been ‘inexpressible’ -hence the fallacy behind the idea of a ‘paranoid’ view of history.
That perspective is only possible by eliminating the possibility that psychopaths do not exist. Political psychopaths, successful psychopaths intrinsically.
But this is not the case. They do exist. Therefore, there could be reason to assume such historical actors, dressed in alternative guise, exist, and are influencers of our history and possibly shapers of our interpretations of it. And so such actors, imbued with charisma/charm etc, which do influence the minds of observers, for instance, can re-direct the ‘stream of history’ and even present novel means of hiding the fact.
Since the gut of many is hard to fool (there are many forms of proof of this), the last refuge of the psychopath is to suggest that they (or better, the psychopathic phenomenon) is not real or effectual, and that the gut is wrong.
Since this feeling, true after all, persists, the eventual expression, after all else is eliminated, is that some will is involved.
Evil is nothing more than the reality of this feeling.
Trust what you feel. None will be perfect… together we will be. Those that know what I’m imperfectly trying to describe will already understand; their impulse will naturally be to improve upon this expressive impulse; to better communicate an idea that previously could not be understood.
I said improvised.
when I wrote “That perspective is only possible by eliminating the possibility that psychopaths do not exist” I really meant “That perspective is only possible by eliminating the possibility that psychopaths exist.”
Essentially, dismissal of such paranoid views of history is possibly if psychopathy is ignored.
