Substituting horse meat is just more proof of hidden inflation

Robin Hargreaves, from the British veterinary association, discusses the dangers of consuming horsemeat treated with phenylbutazone, following the news that Findus beef lasagne ready meals may have been contaminated. Hargreaves claims that if the anti-inflammatory pain killer was permitted to enter human food products, then preventative tracing systems aren’t working properly

The last time I ate Findus frozen foods was in the 1980s, as a kid. I’m amazed they’re still in business. I would heartily recommend Donald Russell lasagnes btw. Pricey, but true steak mince.

horses are one of the first pets to be abandoned during hard times. they will all be eaten soon. cook your own fucking food. just another sick corporation making lemonade out of a bad situation. there getting these horses free and making large profits. inflationary? no. just fucking greed. inflation is causing the horses to come into the market. your getting the cart in front of the horse.

Has anyone thought…if the processors can slip in the odd horse here and
there, what’s stopping them slipping in the odd dog, cat or rat. Just found
out the species from where the meat originated is not tested for by the FSA.
the FSA only test for bacteria in meat.

I can remember a “steak” restaurant in my area (now out of business) that was substituting kangaroo meat for beef in their “steaks”. Wags were saying that that was the reason this steakhouses’ sales were growing by ‘leaps and bounds’! Australians: please use caution when ordering beef, although I have been to Australia and had kangaroo meat. Very good but still, you should expect to receive what you order at a restaurant.

@Paolo7219 it is impossible to confuse kangaroo meat with beef. Kangaroo has a distinct texture, smell and incredibly strong taste. Someone is pulling your leg.
