I reflect on fascism (because I live in the US) regularly and I’ve been developing an unpopular opinion on the rise of feminism, a pro woman culture developing in the face of men screwing up everything, and an alarmingly unambitious male population. In his must read book The Mass Psychology of Fascism, Wilhelm Reich notes that the psychology of fascism plants its seeds in what he calls “the little man,” i.e. the man with the chip on his shoulder, the man with short man syndrome, the man that feels as though he’s been sleighted and that the cards are stacked against him. The state becomes the force of confidence and pride in this vulnerable “little man” who can’t stand alone on his own skills and merit. I see this as a trend in the reactionary American woman in the 21st century, specifically the women that lack skills and resent men (there are plenty of women who are confident and independent on there own and have undeniable abilities, and feminism has little appeal to them: the European woman). Recently the NYtimes came out with an article about the increased roll of women in the military as the state looks to use this untapped power. The state always seeks to appeal to the individual’s resentment, greed, and/or sexual desires. The pendulum swings back and forth, and I think there is a trend of femenin fascism in the states right now and I would buy an ETF if there was one. I’m calling this early, watch over the next ten years and watch the development of this. Side note: The Mass Psychology of Fascism should be required reading in education. Many students read Night or The Diary of Ann Frank which show the end result of fascism, but very few read the book that explains the material and ideological preconditions that lead to fascism.

vintage chix rule; though there was a certain hollywood-esqueness to this (in reality I doubt she’d get the upper hand in most situations she demo’d)
