Street protests in Ireland against banking terrorism

Hi Max,

just watched your show and thanks for keeping a watchful eye on developments there

However yesterday evening a large student protest ended with violence, mostly it seems carried out by local police (Gardai.)

The students were marching peacefully regarding the proposed imposition of fees for 3rd level education.

Some protestestors broke from the main group and occupied the lobby of the Department of Finance. I think they threw eggs at it. Riot squad and mounted police were on the scene in minutes, and the violence ensued.

There are video’s online showing the riot police bashing protestors over the head while they were seated peaceably on the roadway. I’m sure someone deserved a bash on the head but not these guys!

This along with the previous day where Mary Harney, long serving Health minister was daubed with red paint while attending the “sod turning” at a new medical facility.

I didn’t attend and of these events myself, I am an Irish guy allright, but living in Morocco.
It goes to show a rising tide of anger, even before the budget. It also shows state police (with Politically appointed commissioner) determined to maintain control.

BTW, longtime fan of yours, thanks for your informative articles / vids and keep up the great work.
