Yesterday the website WikiLeaks* published TOP SECRET information about loans made by Kaupthing bank just before the Big Meltdown last October.

Note: This wikileak is from 2009, but demonstrates that Wikileaks has successfully released information related to banks and, in this case, that has led to the arrest of some of those involved in the crime exposed.

UK’s Serious Fraud Office looking at Deutsche Bank role in alleged Kaupthing credit default swap manipulation

Stacy Summary:  Deutsche Bank being investigated for role in alleged credit derivatives manipulation.   I don’t think the SFO has ever been able to successfully investigate a single major bank or hedge fund.  Let’s see if they can find anything that might jeopardise the City’s role in global derivatives fraud.

US bankers like local Third World warlords intercepting monetary stimulus aid

Stacy Summary: Good mornin’ y’all.  Yes thanks for all the great links in the latest jibber jabber.  Here is what I am reading this morning.  The second link from Jesse is very interesting.  Read it and let me know your thoughts in comments please!

The monetary stimulus of the Fed and the Treasury to help the economy is similar to relief aid sent to a suffering Third World country. It is intercepted and seized by a despotic regime and allocated to its local warlords, with very little going to help the people.

By far this presents the most compelling case for a deflationary episode. As the money that is created flows into financial assets, it is ‘taxed’ by Wall Street which takes a disproportionately large share in the form of fees and bonuses, and what are likely to be extra-legal trading profits.

Waterfalls, workers, incentives & financial fraud

Stacy Summary: The second third link is an hour and a half long video that you might like to watch on this Sunday. What are the headlines in your part of the world? Any good stories from Asia? Australia? Ireland? etc.?

Eva Joly, the French-Norwegian MEP and fraud expert hired by Iceland and now working with the Serious Fraud Office, now believes it will be “the largest investigation in history of an economic and banking bank collapse”.

Many of the banks’ secrets are likely to be inextricably bound up with corporate Britain and the success of these investigations in tracing and recovering assets is likely to affect every UK household.

Local authorities lost £1bn – or 5pc of all the money from council tax – in the over-leveraged institutions, leaving many facing the prospect of drastic cuts in services or steep hikes next year as they wait for the proceeds of the banks’ administration to dribble through.

And:

Kaupthing’s loan book, which was leaked on to the internet last week, shows that around one third, or €6bn (£5.1bn), of its €16bn corporate loan book was going to a small elite of men connected to the bank’s owners and management.

Several investigations into Kaupthing centre on share ramping, where the bank would allegedly give loans with no interest or security in order to buy shares in that same bank – boosting the share price.

Northern Rock, Kaupthing and other bait & switch banking disasters

Stacy Summary:  Coincidence or design – the taxpayers seem to be suffering all the bad debts on the loan portfolios they own, but, alas, the bankers themselves are reporting record profits?
